Saying the peak shortage will be the final 2 weeks of May.

Meat in May will be the toilet paper of March.

Everyone stocked up for their needs?

I haven't been to a grocery store since April 5th, so I have no idea what they're looking like around here.

I was at a butcher shop on the 17th and they were fine.

I'm scheduling a curbside pick up order at our favorite butcher (not the one above) for sometime Friday or Saturday. They appeared to have everything we needed when I was adding things to my cart earlier, so I'm hopeful.

Been dealing with a meat shortage your whole life. Killing deer won’t make a better.

Our deep freeze in the basement is stocked. The wife and I before all this preferred a freezer stocked with meat and food. We are pretty good with a lot of pork and chicken and some beef.

Wife went to Costco yesterday and they had signs up stating people could only buy up to 3 packages of each meat product.

Not really concerned. I can manage without it.

I think they've had that up since this started, at least at the one I go to. We have at least 2 pork butts in the deep freeze, some wings, and some other pork items. I've seen some articles about the meat supplies, but I'm not that concerned. I might go to Costco tomorrow and get some chicken thighs or something that can stretch for awhile, just to be safe.

I'm getting a little concerned, but not panicking yet.

Thomas Massie has a bill in congress, and their is an identical bill in the senate, making it easier for smaller meat processors to sell meat to grocery stores. Something like 10% of the processing plants process 80% of the meat consumed in the country.

We're splitting half of a beef with my cousin but it's not scheduled for processing until August.

I'll likely have to make a run to the store in a few days, so I'll restock then, at least in theory. Have about 4 pounds of ground beef right now, but will try to add another 4-5 whenever I go, since I'm trying to turn my grocery store visits into monthly deals where I just go without the minor things like mushrooms and tomatoes for a little while when I run out. But since I'm running low on eggs and some personal hygiene stuff, it'll have to be within the next week.

Even when I have pasta, I usually have some sort of meat with every dinner. Burgers, Steak, ground beef (bolognese/nachos/tacos), chicken, etc.

We have enough for like a week, and can only buy about 1 weeks worth at a time based on limits. So, I’ll head out Sunday morning and stock up, so will have about 2 weeks worth at that point. Not a ton, but could ration and eat less meat/more sides if we end up with a true shortage.

There is a record amount of meat in freeze.

The panic promoters will not stop until they get Trump.

We have used curbside grocery pickup exclusively and we often don’t get the meat we want. We have ordered meat from Omaha Steaks (their filet mignon is the best IMO) and ground beef from a small guy outfit  called Porter Road out of Kentucky.

Stopped to get kids Burger King for dinner and they were out of everything. Had signs up saying it was due to supply shortages from COVID-19

Uh oh

Every Drive thru in town is packed to the street during lunch and dinner times

People gonna have to start cooking but then there won’t be any meat available.

My buddy owns 5 McDonald's restaurants and they condensed their menus a decent bit about a month ago.

I know this isn’t the thread but goes with the convo above, I live in basic bitch land and the Starbucks are paaaaacked. There had to be 30 in line this morning when I drove by. Not sure they are even losing any money.

I don’t think our fast food places are going with less than normal profit. Drive thrus are insane and they likely have 2-3 fewer workers as no one allowed to eat in

I love a good filet - key to restaurant quality steak at home is the meat!  I get some from a local grocer that obviously come frozen, not sure of the brand.  As good as any I've had in a steakhouse for about $30 per lb.

But I was surprised how expensive Omaha is - their cheapest filets are over $40 per lb.  I'll give them a shot - which do you recommend?  Thanks
