Because apples to oranges comparisons are the best way to make a point!!!!

I mean, releasing SEX OFFENDERS of all things is utterly stupid as fuck and deserves to be called out, regardless of whether they were going to be paroled at some point this year or not, but there's no comparison in any way, shape or form to DeBlasio trying to stop large numbers of a particular group from doing what they want regardless of rules, orders or whatever.

Bc just go fucking break it up. You aren’t arresting anyone when you’re releasing other ones. I wasn’t comparing the two, hence why I didn’t call the mayor a dipshit like he is in general. A comparison would be to all the dipshits congregating to watch the fighter jets in NYC, which didn’t get called out. 

I congregated on my fire escape. Unfortunately it's views the complete opposite side of the sky. in terms of their route. :(

He was, and has been, on his game.  Too bad other gov’s shot their wad bitching and moaning.

Markets are now back to about 15% off their highs.

LOL, I have no idea.  Back when it was down like 7% before the global economy shutdown for 2+ months, it looked like a decent buy.  But this now seems overly optimistic.  You print $6T and so it's like the shutdown had no economic impact, but that now reflects a pretty mild recession.  No double-dip in that number.  No recurrence of virus/shutdowns in that number.  And I'm underwhelmed by Remdesivir - reducing recovery from 15 days to 11 doesn't sound that great, but maybe it would be effective enough to reduce hospitalizations and mortality to levels of the flu.  Still waiting on a substantial trial of hydroxychloroquine (there are, apparently, many underway).

I hear ya. It’s a little freaky getting into the market right now. The only thing I keep telling myself (and clients) is that the economy was hitting on all cylinders before and will continue after this is all done. 
I don’t understand the media’s obsession with Gilead’s drug at all. Last time they talked about it, WHO fucked up and released the info before it was really tested—and Gilead was pissed about that. 
I’m much more intrigued with Capricor’s CAP1002 drug that treated and cured all 6 corona patients, 5 of which were on ventilators. They’ve been approved by the FDA for further testing, as well as some placebo tests. I don’t really care about someone coming up with a vaccine, just find a drug that if you do get this it will shut it down immediately. Good enough for me.

I think releasing any legitimate criminal (not looking at you minor drug offenders) only to lock up COVID rule breakers is about as fucking dumb as one can possibly dumb.

Speaking of dipshits, what are your thoughts on Pence rolling through a hospital with covid patients without wearing a mask? Despite the hospital having a mandatory “mask-on” rule? 
I’m sure you just forgot to post about it—wouldn’t have happened if that was Pelosi or AOC doing that though. You’d have posted about it within minutes lol

I disagree with that.  We were already almost a year beyond the longest expansion in history, with plenty of indicators pointing to a recession within 12 months (I think over 50% of economists were predicting that).

Also, there's no way we are going back to normal with 95% of demand down for airlines. Restaurants, hotel, sports & entertainment and maybe even retail are going to take months, and in some cases maybe a year or more to recover.  Demand for travel and events will definitely be down significantly until confidence comes back.  Some of that money will be absorbed by other things like Netflix, but I can't see a recovery, much less a good economy, with 25% of the economy still knocked on its ass from coronavirus.

It's also very possible this will encourage Americans to save more with 20M Americans living paycheck to paycheck suddenly out of a job with no control over finding another source of income.  A significant increase in savings is actually not good for the economy in the short-run.

Millions of service jobs are gone for probably at least 12 months.  Best case scenario is a "muddle thru" economy, but I expect a double dip.  Good time for market neutral and vol strategies.

That would be a close one, except I don’t wear a mask and surprisingly wouldn’t say a word about AOC not wearing one. I’ll even give her credit for talking about Biden’s sexual assault. Pelosi can fuck herself either way, but If I don’t wear a mask to the store I’m not gonna say anything. I sure as fuck wouldn’t go to a hospital during this, and would probly wear a mask while there if I had to. Supposedly he gets tested all the time and is negative, so he can’t spread something he doesn’t have, but seems like a gamble. I just don’t think it’s the gotcha the talk show hosts tried to make it.

I'm still a little fishy on the whole mask thing.  When there was a PPE shortage it was "don't wear masks", and it was said they don't really protect you from catching it.  But when you dig a little deeper, that doesn't appear true for N95 masks and appears to be based mainly on average people not using masks correctly.  That could be a valid point, but user error doesn't make the mask ineffective.

And now they are saying wear a mask to protect others.  That's generally true for non-N95 masks.  Most masks do protect against larger droplets that carry viruses, and N95 in particular are very difficult even for smaller droplets to penetrate.  I think any mask is going to protect you more than none.  Also, there is some talk about severity being related to the viral load you are exposed to, and that means any mask less than 100% effective could still be significant because it reduces the viral load.

So, yeah, I think Pence is dumb for not wearing an N95 mask in the hospital.  But if you aren't actually coming close to patients and everyone else is wearing a mask it's probably overblown.

Fun fact also half my timeline has already had corona virus cause they were sick in dec-jan and they never get sick and they had all the symptoms of covid but the doctor just told them they had the flu 

I had terrible corona like symptoms in December, and was told enterovirus.

So many people on my timeline saying that. They just want attention. 

Update:

Good News: Wife is now symptom free for 2 days. 

Bad News: 16 year old son has symptoms. The mild fever, body soreness, and hard to breathe at times. He was the one we were somewhat worried about getting it because he has exercised induced asthma. So far his symptoms have been mild. But it has only been 2 days. My wife’s “worst day” from day 1 of symptoms was day 6, she is on day 9 now. So if it follows the same my son will have his worst day Sunday and be symptom free next Tuesday. 
 

He is in great shape, one of the top ranked wrestlers in the state for his weight class, so he should be fine, the asthma just worries us. 
 

So how does the self quarantine situation work for you now? Are you supposed to do another 14 days now since you don’t think you had it but your son does?

I don't pay tuition to teach the classes. But no, I don't think there is any discounted tuition. Our particular campus only has post-grads, so we won't lose revenue on room/board losses. We will lose revenue on reduced enrollment due to personal financial concerns, reduced research capabilities, and re-allocation of expected federal funds.

No, the rest of the family other than my wife were to be quarantined for 3 weeks (her 2) for exactly this reason. He started having symptoms exactly a week after she did. 
 

The rest of the house was already quarantined an extra week over her.

I don't disagree with that -- my issue was more along the lines of posting an LA-area jailing releasing inmates in response to something NYC is doing to prevent huge mass gatherings because there is absolutely no connection between the two. If NYC also is releasing legit criminals while threatening to jail COVID rule breakers, that is relevant and should be broadcast as a sign of total stupidity, but what LA/SoCal is doing means nothing in relation to what a city on the opposite coast is doing.
