I don't disagree with that -- my issue was more along the lines of posting an LA-area jailing releasing inmates in response to something NYC is doing to prevent huge mass gatherings because there is absolutely no connection between the two. If NYC also is releasing legit criminals while threatening to jail COVID rule breakers, that is relevant and should be broadcast as a sign of total stupidity, but what LA/SoCal is doing means nothing in relation to what a city on the opposite coast is doing.

They are (the LA article was just the most ridiculous one I had seen). And the criminals are already getting arrested again, and then released again. I was trying to point out something that hasn't been brought up yet (badly apparently), about the release of criminals and how stupid it is, and how dumb it is to then tell people you would arrest them even though you are already letting people go for worse crimes. If they want to let people with drug possessions go then cool, but robbery, assualt, etc should be forced to deal with their consequences.

That type of shit happens all over the place on the OC. Person A makes an argument. Person B argues against Person A by saying something factual about something completely unrelated to Person A’s stance, but as a counter to their point. Person A then can’t counter because they agree with Person B’s statement but it just doesn’t really have anything to do with their original argument/stance.

Then follows 7 pages of blah blah blah

Anyway, has anywhere in Ohio opened up yet? Retail stores are open here with restrictions, but no restaurants or bars yet, and normal businesses are still not supposed to be open unless essential. They were going to open May 4th, but now it looks like another week to the 11th (not sure about F&B).

Texas appears to be allowing 25% occupancy in restaurants and 6 feet apart outside seating.

I think we're on a May 4 plan for some businesses with others to gradually open. I know there's a list as to what stuff re-opens then, but can't remember what all is on it off the top of my head.

Stay home to flatten the curve

Stay home until we have a vaccine

Stay home until COVID is gone

There are no worse people than the "I don't feel safe, so you must be forced to give up your liberties for me to feel safe" people.  They are followed up by their cousins for 2nd worse.  The "I know someone who died or had corona (or whatever the hot topic is), therefore I validate everything said by my friends living in fear" people.

Why won't Trump turn his Twitter sites at China.  Their state media is going all out in blaming this thing on the US.  The more they flood the world with this crap, the more traction it may get.  He should very publically acknowledge what China is doing with its state media.  Direct some of that nastiness to President Xi instead of Pelosi or the news media.

Because his fumbling attempts to "own the libs" (which they are far better at doing to themselves than he is with his stupid nicknames and "old man yells at clouds" tweets) to fire up his base are more important to him than anything else.

I'll nominate another group. Those pushing for opening, opening, opening everything immediately, not due to any rights issues, but because they're one paycheck away from economic disaster. If one wants to argue the state has no right to close up parts of the economy, that's an argument that can be made. That the economy is a disaster because 78% (Forbes, early 2019) of Americans literally live paycheck to paycheck, about 80% of that 78% should GFT. Your irresponsibility is not a reason to be considered in a public policy discussion. Stop sucking at life.

He was going after China and the media released an internal memo saying their strategy was to pass blame to China.

I've heard South Dakota started opening up this week. One friend that lives there stated that their community (15,000+) is operating like nothing ever happened.

It seems like maybe 3/4 of cases in this country are concentrated in about a dozen or so urban areas.  Most of those cities have 3 major sports teams, and the bigger deal is probably wide use of mass transit.  Although even the sidewalks can be quite crowded.

Now, those 12 cities have like 60-70M people.  But the rest of the country really should get along fine with social distancing and wearing masks in public.

Not talking you specifically, but I can imagine a lot of people are more concerned about getting their dog groomed than they are getting their hair cut.

We need both. Thank goodness my office is super casual right now and I can wear a hat bc it’s rough out here.
