For what it may be worth................We have a family member who works for a company that designs uniforms, and associated fan wear for a bunch of MLB, NBA, NFL teams. In late March/early April all employees were put on furlough with an anticipated  recall sometime in early June.  Well, they all returned last week, focused solely on NFL stuff.

COULD be a positive sign........I sure hope so.

Oh BTW, I saw the Browns "new" stuff back in February, but was sworn to secrecy.

Anyway, here is one of the demos (just please no one go posting this on a platform where it could in theory take off, like Twitter or FB, etc — I need my job)

The ads are catered for the European soccer leagues and potentially MLS (no contract yet) as well as Nascar/Indycar. They don’t want to pay to have them painted for fans at track who aren’t there, but want them no located where they will be seen on TV. Similar to the hockey ones we do on the glass.

LOL indeed.  $4B+ in lost revenues from gate receipts alone and it doesn't take a rocket scientist [but perhaps someone with a basic understanding of accounting and sunk costs] to understand they will lose MORE money each game they play without fans.   The owners voted to propose a 50/50 revenue split, which is to say they do have limits on what kind of losses they will accept and don't appear prepared to put on a season unless players take a pay cut.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2020/05/16/major-league-baseball-revenue-loss-report/5207671002/

"Teams say the proposed method of salvaging a season delayed by the coronavirus pandemic would still cause a $4 billion loss and would give major league players 89% of revenue....They contend they lose more money with each additional game played. The players’ union, however, believes clubs would lose less money with more games...."

" Now that plans have been formulated to possibly start the season in early July in disinfected stadiums with no gate revenue, at least at the start, MLB says the current economics are not feasible. Players have said they already made a deal and see no need for change. "

I’m surprised they can’t figure out a way to safely play with fans there, especially baseball. Only sit every other row, maybe reserve sections for groups of 2-3, other sections for 4-6, etc. Cap the overall attendance. Depending on your seat, have designated restrooms and entrances/exits and concession stands. Someone isn’t obeying the rules they get a warning and next time they’re banned for the rest of the season.

I don't know about 4 people, although it's conceivable if you're talking a family of 4.

I think you could allow 2 seats together, surrounded by a 1-seat buffer.  That would be 2/12, or 16% capacity.  Probably other ways to better optimize it and get to like 20% capacity.  No fans at all seems like an unnecessary overreaction.

NHL announced today the regular season ending and would start back up with the playoffs but include 24 teams instead of 16. No set date or locations yet but said it wouldn’t be before July 1st.

I think NFL/NCAA football is played, but might not start on time.

I still think the NFL starts on time.  As I said earlier in this thread, there is already a precedent with a condensed training schedule from the 2011 lockout.  I predict we will see something similar for this season.   Sucks for the Browns, since they have a new coach (like the 2011 lockout).  It's also their fucking fault for hiring a coach every 1.5 years for since 1999.

That’s an insane stat. Hard to fathom honestly.

I just made up the 1.5, but I am sure that figure is very close.  Botch Davis and Romeo are the only two coaches since 99 that have made it to a 4th season.  The only other guy to make it to a third season is Hue LOL.

I’ve had the demos we have been showing the networks for about a week. Buck was 100% not supposed to say anything yet because we have tweaks to do and feedback and meetings still lol.

Also have to figure out how to get crowd noise in to react appropriately at the right times. That’s on the networks and audio divisions, but we won’t have a fake crowd if they don’t figure that out, because it would be really dumb at that point.

I like the crowd noise overlayed in the Bundesliga broadcast. Makes it sound more like normal.

I do too. The leagues themselves (mainly NBA) does not want players and coaches heard. They are pushing hard for fake crowd. Don’t want swearing and N bombs being hear on broadcast.

It would definitely be a more natural viewing experience.

But the leagues might be missing a real opportunity for fans to hear the coaching and trash talk.   I understand the whole "PG" aspect of the experience, but not only can't any of us play at an elite level, we also suck at trash talk in comparison....

I don’t think anyone wants audio cut out for 10+ seconds at a time, over and over. Have you ever been courtside at an NBA game? Its a war zone of words you can’t say on TV
