What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving this year?

Our overall plans haven't changed in a while. Dinner with the family at my brother-in-law's house. I'll be cooking the turkey again this year, which I think is the 12th year in a row for me making the turkey. I had always done in the in the Charbroil Big Easy, but I got rid of that after a decade of service. I did the turkey sous vide last year, and it was great. Finishing it in the oven wasn't fun given I was fighting for space with everyone else, so I plan on finishing in their electric smoker this year. I'll do 12+ hours in the sous vide, and I'm thinking 1-2 hours in the smoker to finish it.

Finally not cooking everything this year. Only 5 adults and 1 child (and an infant), so my parents are buying the turkey and it comes with gravy and stuffing from the country club down the street. I will make potatoes and some other sides, but we do a turkey trot in the morning and trying to do a whole turkey taking up the whole oven in a short period of time is a pain in the ass. This will be much less stressful for everyone.

We have built-in ovens, one over the other.  And even with that, it's a fight some times for space.  A couple of weeks ago, one of the ovens had the coil catch fire.  It burned in a ring until I got to the breaker to cut the power.  Being that the ovens were 25 years old, we got two new Whirlpools.  Wow, ovens sure have changed over the years.  I can start them from my phone.  In order to make sure that we had the new ovens by Thanksgiving, I had to find my own installer, which I have one of "my guys".  I helped and learned that those mother fuckers are heavy!  But we got them in and are ready for the festivities.

My wife's parents just built a new house and got a new double oven with touch screen controls and wifi and all that. Pretty cool.

Not going to Ohio for the 2nd year in a row unfortunately.

I'm still unsure of what I'll be doing. I do no that I will NOT be taking on the task of the turkey this year. I did that last year, was very mediocre.

First year with a baby, but still going back to Toledo (Perrysburg). Dinner at my Uncle's I believe, but my parents always host a morning party with like 40 of our friends, family and significant others. It started with 11 and over the 15 years is expected to be 44 people this year. Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, Screwdrivers donuts and egg casserole (among others) and a football game in back. It’s Ohio colleges vs Out of State and we (Out of State) hold the crown for 4 years running now. But now we are getting older and the Ohio guys are younger, so I see a loss coming.

Sunday before Thanksgiving we will be with  my wife's family where two brothers and their respective families are at odds with each other.  So that should be fun... Unsure about my side of the family's plans.

Driving from Akron to Troy in Wednesday to have Thanksgiving with my in-laws. Their menu changes every year, so who knows what we'll be having. I always offer to bring or make something, but it's usually not necessary.

Driving from Troy to Millersburg Thursday night. My family has our Thanksgiving on Friday. I'd like to get a cajun turkey from Popeyes but I procrastinated so I'm sure it's too late for that. Either way, it will be fried. I'm usually in charge of making about 50 deviled eggs.

Fixing the turkey at our house with my wife, our two sons and their wives. This causes some friction with my youngest sons wife's family as she refuses to dine at her parents on Thanksgiving. She says that my turkey and fixins are far superior to her mother's.

Entertain yourself by setting people against each other if there's already ready-made friction!

Be going to my mom's for Thanksgiving during the day and then, depending on how things work out, I'll either wind up going home to chill or go to a friends to drink heavily. Because that's what holidays are for!

I was thinking the same thing. Depending on how much I actually liked them I would consider starting some shit.

We gather at my aunt & uncle's cabin.  It used to be held at my grandparents house until they got too old and the family too large.  Three turkeys all cooked differently.  Two floors of tables and a lot of food and desert.  Best is mixing my grandma's coleslaw with my mash potatoes gravy and stuffing.  Sad note first thanksgiving without grandpa he passed away this summer.

We are getting old.  This thread was a lot more fun to read 15 years ago...

It's gone from "Getting drunk AF Wednesday night and going to mom's on Thursday" to "my wife, children and I are travelling to my in-laws for brunch and then we are hosting dinner."

hahahaha

Hope you assholes are well.

I'm not going out this year, but I got way too drunk last year. My husband and I had to Uber to the bar on Thanksgiving morning to get our cars before heading to his aunt's house. I was too hungover to eat anything but dinner rolls. 😬 I mean I'm still old af, but will continue to make poor life decisions.
