I am so sick of people throwing the word racism on everything.  

Do these protestors realize that most of the cities they are in have black mayors, city councils that have more black members then white and black police chief's?

F*ck you.  That's one thing I am not.  

As I see it, I get to say things about racism and the inequalities of life.  I grew up poor, single parent, food stamps, bullied by black kids in my neighborhood.  I had every barrier that anyone else had in the neighborhood.  I grew up, worked my butt off. paid for college,  got passed up on jobs because I was a white male.

If I say I am sick of that word being misused...I get to.

I mean I know that happens, years ago my dad got passed up to be a firefighter because of affirmative action required they hire a minority. 
 

I know in engineering it is way easier to get a scholarship if you are black or a woman (this one black girl in my class had a full ride and her ACTs and grades were just average for engineering). 
 

However, never heard that for dodgeball supervisors. I think every gym teacher I have ever seen or had was a white man with a couple women in there. I don’t think too many white men are getting passed over for jobs as sit up counters.

Help people? Sure, a little. Significantly help their lives? No, not imo. That’s the state and federal laws. They could devote more resources to the bad neighborhoods, but the budget set by the state wouldn’t allow that. Just don’t see the city being able to address the overarching issues in America. It need to start at the state and federal levels, then trickle down to something the cities can work with.

"Well Mr. Spock, we appreciate you interviewing with us.  We found you to be the most qualified guy and everyone here thinks you'd be great for the position.  That said, we wanted you to know that we're going to go ahead and give the job to a black guy who is not a qualified as you.  We just wanted to make sure that you were clear that you'd been passed over so the less able black guy could be given the position.  We want to be transparent."
