Whitaker is performing just like Strzok, but without the smirk.

Jayapal just went on an unhinged rant on immigration, and he just stared at her like "do you have a question, crazy person?"

No matter anyone's political lean, the one thing the Republicans did was to allow witnesses to answer fully and not allow the constant interruption of the witness. I'm not a member of either party, but to pretend they're equally slimy is nonsense.

Strzok was smirking and refusing to answer some legit questions.

I haven't seen the whole thing, but the few minutes I've been watching is just grandstanding Dems trying to bait Whitaker into validating their bullshit.  A lot more virtu-signaling than actual questions.

But like 90% of these hearings, on both sides of the aisle, are nothing more than politicians trying to get a soundbite for the news that throws red meat to their base.

Whitaker from what I have seen is legit.  Well spoken, not putting up with the grandstanding.  LIke.

So Trump mocked Warren's official campaign announcement by referencing the "Trail of Tears"

I always laugh when progressives write an article trying to make a point about inequality/hardship, and are completely oblivious that they are validating criticisms of conservatives/economists.  Article about Finland's universal income experiment (early findings show no impact on unemployment, but but but it's "more complicated than that").

Towards the end is a story about a woman who talks about buying better groceries and being able to go out for dinner occasionally.  Then she cries about the "huge paycut" when the benefit was taken away.  In other words, she got a handout, started living less frugally and then it was a shock to her to adjust when the handout was taken away.

LOL, AG Whitaker just pwned the Dems..."Congressman, I'm not here to be a puppet to repeat what you're saying...I've answered your question"

I liked it when he told Chairman Nadler that Nadler’s time had expired; that was pretty damn good.

What he said there was planned as a media moment.  Instead of the media actually talking about content of the hearing,,,,,they reported on that.  Deflection at its finest

IIham Omar getting hammered by her own party for continuing to talk about Jews. I know we already talked about it, but who votes for these freaks.

When cultural Marxists and ‘educators’ continually hammer away at the mantra to not be judgmental, we end up where we are.  We were gifted with a brain and a conscience for the purpose of making judgments, and we better start making them before it is too late.

It occurs to me, after all these hearings going back to the Obama years, no one is held in contempt...no one loses their pension, much less their job.

So I'm not sure what "oversight" Congress really provides.  They don't seem to have the power to hold people accountable.  At times I can see why people act like Whitaker.  But in this case that was nothing more than a parade of grandstanding by the Dems.

I've been away for a week or so and good to know the typical boilerplate is still there.

Well....oversight means $$$$ and funding agencies and programs. That is the oversight. Rarely does oversight tie to specific individuals. Often times it is which programs are going to get an icnrease, decrease, or flat funding.

There is a lot of bigotry on the left.  And it's tolerated so long as that bigotry is toward white males or, apparently, Jewish people (how do so many continue to vote Democrat?!?)

I was just thinking about this today, because it's everywhere you look now.  Yes, Trump actually did normalize bigotry....on the Left!  This stuff was pretty subtle, pretty hidden.  But because they believe Trump is racist and enabling all these racists, now true colors come out.

Read a student newspaper piece the other day - Yale, I think - where the woman was urging her classmates to collect evidence on white males that might one day be used to block their Presidential bid, or appointment to the SCOTUS.  One would think such an article is grounds for expulsion.

It's becoming really toxic.  Below article talks about a researcher trying to get "radical" people from the left and right together to understand each other, and discuss civilly.  That researcher actually expressed surprise that the participants from KY weren't "ignorant dumb Trump voters".  LOL, then a comment after the article said "what's a bunch of white people learning to work out their disagreements going to do for people of color"?  How damaged, besides ignorant/racist, does one have to be to take that away from the article?

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/04/us/conflicting-experts-peacebuilders.html

This part slipped past the editors, although the good leftist probably reads this as only being critical of the right:

“People are making up stories about ‘the other’ — Muslims, Trump voters, whoever ‘the other’ is,” she said. “‘They don’t have the values that we have. They don’t behave like we do. They are not nice. They are evil.’”

She added: “That’s dehumanization. And when it spreads, it can be very hard to correct.”

I get that.  But why have these hearings in the first place?  They don't seem to have the power to conduct a proper investigation, so why do they pretend that they can investigate anything?

So you can have the back and forth with the agency head or sub agency head on particular programs.

You can also investigate particular programs, or ask questions about particular studies. (This is how it is supposed to go and usually does if you watch a ton of C-Span)

That works only when people cooperate (i.e. when they aren't hiding something).  So they aren't ever going to uncover any actual wrongdoing, because they have no real power.

Giant waste of time and resources.  Anything worth a real investigation should just have a Special Counsel appointed, because Congress is pretty toothless and inept.

Speaking of inept, Adam Schiff wants to open essentially an audit on steroids of Trump financials.

While I think Trump should have produced his tax returns, I would love to see Schiff and anyone else who votes for a financial probe of the POTUS to be subject to the same thing themselves.  I guarantee that goes from many "ayes" to mostly "nay" very very quickly.
