Is the draft still going on exactly as planned? Or have they modified it? I think canceling it all together would be ridiculous. There's plenty of ways to have it while still practicing social distance.

I think that, for me, the weird thing about the draft this year will be that all these other sporting events where I'm used to getting together with friends and partying have been canceled and it's this weird "out of sight, out of mind" thing for me where it doesn't bother me as much as I expected it would. But if the draft is held, it'll be a rare "drinking event" that is going on, but without my one friend holding his annual draft party and that will be kind of strange, knowing it's going on and I'm not heading up to his place.

One of the comments brought up a good point: which HC will get busted watching porn during the draft?

Bill O'Brien has to be leading candidate for anything that can and will go wrong.

Hacking, lagging issues, etc. This will either go off without a hitch, or have a TON of issues. I don't foresee an in between.

Anyone read anything about how ESPN plans to cover it?

OK, I was a little sloppy - if we said the last 20 years, then we include Johnson and Dilfer.  To go with Foles, Flacco, and honestly Eli(2) the past 15 years.  That's 6 out of 20.

And when I did this exercise a few years ago, I think the percentage was over 75-80% SB's won by a HOFer before 2000.  And like 2/3 of the losing teams had a HOF QB (which has changed more).

Having a great QB can make any game winnable.   The issue I think we see going forward is the salary many of the top are commanding so much of the cap.

Saw a stat a few weeks ago, in the last 10-12 years there was only 1 team who had a player (usually QBs) who were in the top 10 in salary counting toward the cap for the season they won the SB.   It was Manning, and that was I believe the season he had a terrible year and won it by defense mostly.

I understand the agents, and NFLPA, want to squeeze every dollar out of the contract for their QBs, but there becomes a point where it is such a strain on the team financially and leaves very little room for error.   Brady always was paid well, but wasnt busting their cap space and was one of the reasons why they could stay so competitive.

YOu mean like how the Browns blasted porn for like a half hour when they followed/posted their #dp to keep tabs on what their fans were saying in the dawgpound pages?

Classic.

Also probably wants the extra picks because they traded their 1st rounder...

Probably so.

But in reality it is not a bad idea.   It benefits both sides.  Teams cannot bring everyone in for their due diligence, and many college kids werent able to do their pro days.  This allows more latitude, plus those extra players would be UDFA anyways and signed right afterwards to practice squad deals.  At least this gives them a bit more $$$ and maybe a better shot at making the squad.

What did the Bucc's change other than the number font and striping? Looks pretty similar at first glance.

Because those extra picks would normally be UDFA's, and have their pick of signing with the team that gives them the best shot at making the roster at their position.

A "raw" player could get drafted by a team taking a flier on a guy where they already have good depth.  Especially in a year where there might be less preseason games, those 3 extra picks might have a better chance if they were a UDFA.  Better for the team, sure, but not necessarily the player.

There would still be UDFA, just a few less.

Teams are more protective of those they draft. They dont like to be 'wrong' and give a drafted player a little bit more benefit of the doubt in developing him whereas UDFA's are seen much more expendable.

Good chance rosters will be expanded from what they were projected to be (was the new CBA increase for this season?) and that drafted player likely has a better chance sticking during the season and not thrown onto the practice squad compared to the UDFA.

I think it is a good idea.

Those are fair points, but there are always drafted players in the late rounds who end-up on practice squad, or cut all together.  So I don't see how that's going to help the guys in rounds 8-10, other than 1-2 of those guys might take a spot at the expense of someone drafted earlier.

Not sure if the expanded roster kicks in this year or not, or if they'll make an exception.  But that's a reasonable argument for adding a few rounds of the draft, especially after adding a few practice squad spots a few years ago.

I just saw Atlanta's and didn't think they were all that bad. Have heard they'd be in the running for the worst uniforms? TB's just look like a bit of a throwback to their SB year.

I feel the NFLPA wouldn’t go for more rounds in the draft.
