I agree. Can't just keep opening and closing the economy. Sadly, we are led by a moron who has convinced enough of this country that covid isnt a big deal and will just go away one day like magic. Not sure what needs to happen to open peoples eyes.

Maybe neither side should have politisized this from day one?  That would have helped.

California shutting down all bars and restaurants (not sure if delivery/takeout is allowed, I assume so?) throughout the state. 38 counties (80% of the population affected) will see additional closures likes gyms, churches, casinos, zoos, etc.

I just don't see what this accomplishes. Four months ago, a fraction of the people were infected that are now. I don't know how long you can keep things closed without continuing to screw a ton of people. If you reopen things again there in 6 weeks, why would it play out any differently than it is now?

This was fine a month ago though?

THis is all about the election now.

Every indicator of these positive tests dont add up to anything.

Yeah, this is where I approve of how my current state, Maryland, and Governor Hogan has done in all of this. Early on, Hogan followed other Governors and issued stay at home orders, used the medical resources and experts to issue guidance, required masks early on and still to this day. He stayed above the fray politics wise and just followed the science and experts. Nearly everyone wears a mask around here and there are really no complaints. As a result, cases in Maryland are largely flat, not increasing, and we are slowing start to open up again.

I doubt governors and mayors are purposefully shutting down their own economies to make sure Donald Trump does not get reelected.  That is some wild shit there man.

I try very hard to ignore the politics of this.  My primary focus now is following the developments of schools opening or not opening in the fall.  I have an eighth grade daughter, so that's where I'm coming from.  I am appalled at districts not opening.  Our school is scheduled to be open as of now.  However I hope the trend of these big districts closing has limited spread.  Punishing children for this thing is ridiculous and immoral.

The American Academy of Pediatrics agrees with you.

Unfortunately, schools reopening has already turned political (ie the dumbass LA teachers union)

Aren’t you the same guy that thought Ohio State raising ticket prices for football games was immoral?

No.  College football ticket prices are not a morality question in my book.  If someone wants to pay Eleventy Billion dollars for a ticket to a football game, that's their business.

Teachers teaching summer school have caught the virus and become very sick and even died in some cases. If the CDC recommendations aren't enough to protect them in the summer with limited enrollment, do you really see it going well with much higher enrollment in the fall?

Could I see a link for this?  I have not heard this concern from any teachers that I know
