Anyone know if places like the Dollar Store and convenience stores that don't have gas considered essential businesses?

Not looking to freak anyone out but one of my coworkers just sent us all a text. His friend's dad works for one of the largest healthcare systems in Ohio and they all met with Dewine yesterday. Sounds like a strong likelihood of a lock down that could come as soon as 2pm today so, if you're not stocked up, now might be the time to do it.

My wife grew up poor and without much food....she has enough food stockpiled the entire OC could sneak out to our place for dinner for a month and we’d still be ok.

My brother just got a letter from his employer. It's a "critical infrastructure team member" letter.

Basically a letter that allows him to travel across/through restricted travel areas. Seems like his employer is preparing from some travel to be restricted in/around the Ohio/Pennsylvania/WV area -- maybe further if he is forced to drive there.

They are not going to keep you from

1) Grocery stores

2) Pharmacies

3) Hospitals/Dr.'s

4) Gasoline in case of travel

They are not going to "lock" you in, sorry.

I think most 'families' who have been in their place for a number of years have plenty of food on hand to sustain them for a long time.

Now, it may not be what they really, really want to eat and such but if ya had to, most could get by.

Lucas County no longer testing patients. Saving all tests for critical personnel. no idea how we are supposed to get an accurate number of cases when this is probably happening all over the country.

True dat.

Getting into it with some local on our area FB page urging people to not leave their houses for a week, blah blah blah.     Asked if she was going to go against her own words by standing outside my house with a gun to keep me inside.

Just got an email that the governor of Pennsylvania ordered all non-life sustaining businesses to close by the end of today 3/20.

🙄 I hope you're trolling, but unfortunately you probably aren't. I don't know why it's so difficult to follow the advice of experts and just stay the fuck home unless it's absolutely necessary to leave. The longer people ignore this advice, the longer it's going to continue to spread, and businesses, schools, etc. will have to remain closed. Stop being a selfish asshole.

So Cuomo is shutting down New York to all but essential businesses. I get why, but how the are people living paycheck to paycheck supposed to survive this?

And how do you define essential? Like, what about appliance repair businesses, plumbers, electricians, or even places like Best Buy/Home Depot/Lowe's that sell appliances, or general supplies for fixing shit that breaks. I'd consider that 100% essential.

Call most creditors and services.  I'm told a lot of them are granting some form of reprieve for these events.

My sister works at Home Depot and she said it's been absolutely nuts the past couple weeks.

This is actually a welcome reprieve for me as I disdain most people.

When I went out to get a few things this morning I stopped off at the local farm store to get mega bags of cat food and the lady behind the counter said they are considered "essential" and they'd be open.

Doubt he's trolling, since last week, he was all "No, me go to gym and you can't stop me!" until gyms were shut down. Seems to be some sort of side effect of being really insecure, where you have to project an image of what you consider to be toughness regardless of how stupid you actually look to everyone else. Kind of like when you're a little kid and your parents tell you to put on a coat and you're like, "No, I'm not cold!!!!" and then have to act casual in short sleeves in 40-degree, rainy weather despite being miserable. With the added bonus of potentially infecting other people, that is.

In more light-hearted shit, I read online today that GameStop is trying to say they'll remain open no matter what because they are essential. I mean, I'm a avid gamer and I had to stop, re-read that and shake my head over that shit. Yeah, dude, if you're talking about a gamer with tons of extra free time, no internet connection and really skewed priorities, sure, real essential... In the grand scheme of things, not so much.
