Well, I certainly do not or will not approve of Trump taking the matter into his own hands and declaring it as a national emergency and I don't even support illegal immigration. It's just wrong to do that and I don't think I have TDS to say it.

oh. I was under the impression that the govt was shut down for wall funding.

Well Pelosi came out today and said it wasn't.  But that is because she realized that she is going to be on the wrong side of history.

Libs must truly believe the wall will work, otherwise they would merely hand over the paltry $5 billion, take credit for reopening government, and enjoy the future votes of the illegals that they claim a wall will not contain.

Funny how that is so readily apparent.

God they are the biggest hypocrites known to the world.

Well the 5 billion is not all that’s on the table. It’s also 4 billion for 50,000 beds, 600 mill for more agents  ect.. also that 5 billion only represents beginning construction costs for 250 miles of wall out of 2000 miles of border correct?

I think the dems want a wall just as much as anybody else. What they are resisting is Trump being the president while it is put up. It would be better if they just came out and said

"I do not want Trump putting up any type of wall, regardless of who is paying for it."

Or "I would rather it be a democrat who puts up some sort of wall than Trump."

Then I could at least appreciate their honesty.

Trump can put up barrier types that are already in use. Money for those has been appropriated since day 1 of his presidency.   Trump's version is just a monument to himself.

Classic.

VIDEO: Students hate Trump's immigration, border wall quotes, don’t realize they’re from Dems

Such quotes include:

“Illegal Immigration is wrong, plain and simple. Until the American people are convinced we will stop future flows of illegal immigration, we will make no progress.” -Senator Chuck Schumer, 2009

“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented and unchecked” -Barack Obama, 2005

“I voted numerous times… to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.” -Hillary Clinton, 2008

Wanting to know if opponents of Trump’s border wall had opinions on these past quotes from Democrat leaders, Campus Reform's Cabot Phillips headed to American University.

But there’s a catch… the students were told the quotes actually came from President Trump.

Upon hearing the quotes, students said Trump’s words were “dehumanizing,” “problematic,” and “jingoist.”

“I just really think it’s hateful speech,” one student said, while another added, “the way he’s referring to people across the wall is dehumanizing.”

One student said the comments held racist undertones, claiming “there are racial biases deeply embedded in there.”

But this was all before they knew these quotes were actually coming from political idols of theirs.

Meh. Some high school in Kentucky did the same thing but in reverse in a graduation speech. Attributed a quote to Trump, the crowd went nuts, and then the kid says it was really Obama.

Oh I definitely think it's his ego that is crucial here. But that doesn't take away anything from what I said; which is they don't disagree with a "barrier/wall" they just don't want him to have his name on it.

Again, I'm against illegal immigration. I really don't care who puts skids to it or even slows it down significantly. I just think it would be nice for some honesty.

The annual costs of doing nothing run anywhere from $50 billion to $140 billion.  So spending $5 billion to get/start a wall is nothing, and even if it costs $25 billion the payback is 6 months or less.  The numbers say do it, now.  But then again, it has nothing to do with money; it has everything to do with hating Trump and resisting – PERIOD.

Did u actually listen to it? While she said those words I think you have to look at the context. My impression of what she said is that the government is now open and the wall has been separated out as a separate issue because they passed the government budget using the gop language. I did not take that to mean the govt wasn’t shut down over the wall

Build the wall. Just have Mexico pay for it . Just as he promised

Other than that the man is coming of as a three year old having a temper tantrum at waving his penis at everybody

I think somebody needs a nice little time out

Both addresses tonight were meh. Not gonna change anyone’s minds. Pelosi and Schumer looked real awkward though.

No thanks on the Dems new image.....oh wait their old image.  What a horrifying look for that party.  They just lost any fight with Trump for the next few years.

Not a Trump fan and I know they've done the same thing to Republicans. But i'm surprised the repubs haven't run these quotes into the ground by now. Just another example of team politics and how both sides are more interested in winning than actually doing what's right.

While im glad trump is so concerned about the employment of black people, it was very disappointing to hear him say that he wanted to build the wall because illegals will take away minimum wage jobs from hispanics and black people.  Truly telling what he thinks of us. smh

Kind of like when Democrats say that not letting felons vote hurts black people?  Or making voter ID mandatory hurts Hispanics and blacks because it's too hard for them to obtain an ID?

I think both republicans and democrats hold onto rather antiquated views of PoC. Both parties are equally regressive because of this. We have had the habit of saying that the far left is regressive, but I think the far right is too. I think people focus more on the left being regressive because the left in general have recently kinda anointed themselves the gatekeepers of what is acceptable and what is not, feelings and morality.

In the meantime I don't want to have Jerry Falwell types preaching down to me of my sin nor do I want AOC types masturbating with my wallet.
