I rarely go with his parlays but I do often use them with adjustments

I appreciate the research that goes with his picks but also feel that he’s just one of 25 social media guys working for  FD

Horrible subs. At least, horrible subs at that time of the game.

Messi is incredible. Argentina are inevitable.

Spain 3-1.

So Spain over Argentina? You soccer guys say this or just rooting?

Will this game be 0-0 or 1-0 with 15 minutes like every other Argentina game?

Spain is easily better top to bottom, but you can never count out this Argentina team.

I’m shocked but also not surprised. Fuck.

Does Spain score first and keep attacking or sit back once they get up? Spain is one of the top attacking teams aren’t they.

Spain never stops pressing and trying to win the ball back. They will never go into a shell. They play 1 way from the time they are 7 years old, and they do not alter ever. They may not push to score, as much as pass it around waiting for an opening, but they will not just sit back and play defense.

The thing about Spain is, and always has been, is they have 23 guys who are largely swappable. Yes, they have defenders, attackers, wingers, defensive mids, etc. But they can almost all go to any inch of the field and feel comfortable. Constant movement, and they defend largely by never giving you the ball.

No, because Kane and Mbappe have another game (3rd place) which will count. But yes, as of now, he is in front due to the assist tiebreakers.

I had Spain as the champions before the tournament, so I still think that. But as has been said, Argentina just never seems to go down. Of course, Spain also hasn't lost a competitive match since March of 2023. Which is like 30+ games. I always like to look at the best midfields in the World Cup. If you can control that, you win. And Spain has probably the 3rd to 5th best MFer in the world coming off the bench (Pedri). Same reason I loved Croatia in 2018 and bet on them (lost in finals), because they had Rakatic and Modric (was world player of the year that year).

Argentina though... they have Messi. He draws so much, and with a game vs Spain where it will be more counters, he could spring free or at least draw double teams and find the open man. Argentina is perfectly comfortable defending for long stretches, so I would expect them to try and just score via the counter.

I saw someone on Twitter who does “future predictions” said on July 11 2021 that Argentina will win 3-2 in the 2026 World cup

Will Argentina be able (or care to) keep Spain’s corner kicks down?

What do you mean? Like keep the number down, or the actual flight of the balls?

Lower number…they attack a lot and seem to get the most corner kicks…will they be able to do that to Argentina?

Yeah. I would venture probably more than normal. Argentina is more willing to just clear the ball from danger vs trying to play it out of the back (defense) and start their attack. They are comfortable defending and springing a counter, so I doubt they will want to play cute with Spains high press defense, which would mean any clearance is just going to be cleared. They will try to keep it in bounds, sure, but not necessarily trying to pass their clearances.
