I listen to classic rock (The Band, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, and so on), classic country (Willie, Waylon, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and so on), bluegrass (any and all) and a small sub-set of current country-leaning artists (Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Shooter Jennings, and so on).

Growing up (80s & 90s) I listed to radio country when I was young. Listened to alternative (Smashing Pumpkins, STP, Bush, etc) as I got older. Had a rap phase in high school and college. I still like to go back and listen to this stuff on occassion.

I also don't mind current catchy pop music, but I don't seek it out. If my wife is playing it it doesn't necessarily make my want to rip my ears off.

I regularly switch between the various sub-genres of rock and metal, but that's about it.

I will listen to almost anything. Rock is my favorite, but I listen to top 40, hip hop, country, 80s and 90s pop and R&B, etc., etc. 

I've had many many phases.

Now I'm so deep into obscure underground electronic genres that I'm rather clueless when it comes to mainstream music today.....and I'm very ok with that.

Enjoyed rock and new wave back in the day.  Now it is mainly classic rock and jazz, but I have definitely expanded the horizons into a lot of stuff, at least for a try.

Used to listen to Linkin Park type stuff, then Rap (Nas, Eminem, etc) and Pop type crap in high school, then senior year went pretty much strictly country and still pretty much only country. I am cool listening to classic rock, 90's/2000s rap, and like 90's pop ballad hits, but almost refuse to listen to most current rap/pop crap. 

I like country and classic rock, although in the last few years, my son turned me on to Alt Nation Sirius Channel 36 and I like a lot of that stuff.

My kids laugh because their 64 year old Dad knows Fitz and the Tantrums, Cage the Elephant, The Kongos, and Black Keys.

When I was a kid, my sisters listened to the classic rock and I was brought up on 70's Aerosmith, Zeppelin, The Who, Mott the Hoople (Ian Hunter), Jethro Tull, etc. As I got a little older, it morphed into KISS, then Ozzy Osbourne and then the music just started getting harder & louder (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Type O Negative, etc). My musical preference has stayed very aggressive and loud.

Mostly pop, bubblegum (really good melodic bubble-gum), and classic rock thru the 1970's.  I really like the New Wave pop sound of the 1980's for its melodic construction and sense of humor.  Have pretty much hated the grunge sound since it came out.  I classify much of modern-day pop music as "non-songs".

Three years ago I met some local musicians and started to become familiar with blues and jazz-funk.  That opened up a whole new world.  And the wife and have started to pay attention to couple of local groups who play big-band music.

Nowadays my wife and I can sit and watch Lawrence Welk re-runs, and marvel at the musicianship on there.  I didn't have the capacity to appreciate it nearly so much in my youth.

I grew up in the 80s and listened to top 40 stuff all throughout - especially the early 80s.  When I hit high school, I focused on classic rock and became obsessed with Led Zeppelen.  I was in college during the grunge stuff and I liked it at the time.  From then until today, I have settled on rock from the 1960s and early 1970s - not hard rock (Beatles, Dylan, Byrds, Stones, etc)  In the past 10 years, I have also developed a great appreciation for classical music.  I'm not terribly knowledgeable about it, but I enjoy it and usually have it on all through the day.

Gowning up in the 60's I enjoyed the Beatles, Stones, Dylan, James Taylor, Jackson Brown with roots in early Country and later 50's Rock n roll stuff. Always a fan of old musical which is why I enjoy Broadway. I listen to the Oldies and Christian now....

I grew up in the 70's so I lean toward classic rock and country but having two boys aged 26 and 22 I listen to "their " music and they listen to my type,just like I did with my dad. They are into most newer rock (black keyes,clutch,highly suspect,royal blood)and alt country/rock like Isbell.Ryan Adams,Wilco,Son Volt,Shooter,Justin Townes Earle.I like most of what they listen to.

Make sure you give Leroy Powell (both solo and his Whiskey Wolves of the West stuff) a listen if you haven't already.

Have always liked a variety of genres, but my go tos for the last few years have been Bluegrass followed by Americana.
