6 episodes, first 2 episodes are 54 then 58 minutes. Last 4 are all about 80 min. I've been rewatching the series and will be finishing the last 2 episodes today. Probably the most anticipated final season of a series since lost, and probably even more so than that. So, what are some thoughts on what will happen on ep 1 or the season in general?

I think I will rewatch the last episode or two of last season this afternoon.
With only 6 episodes, it feels like 2-3 to wrap-up the WW war, and then the final 3 for the throne. Which, despite the title, ending with a war for the throne will feel a bit anti-climactic. Or the easy way to deal with it is that it just ends up with the last man standing taking the throne by default, but that seems unlikely given that Cersei won't be supporting the WW war effort. Although it may be possible that most of the troops would follow Jamie.

I was one of those "I've never watched an episode of game of thrones" people until 3 weeks ago. (Mainly because I don't have cable or hbo) I was on a plane and couldn't find anything good to watch so I thought I would give it a try. I watched the first 7 episodes on the plane. I told a friend who was a fan that I wasn't going to get cable to watch more but that I really liked it. She told me about hbo now so I could stream the rest. I'm almost done with season 6. I think i'm going to be very frustrated when 8 gets here and I have to wait for them to come out instead of watching them back to back.

I have no clue what will happen. I’d put The Night King coming out on top (as Bran??) as like the 4th best odds lol.
I just know I am pumped.

So, who dies tonight, since with only 6 episodes, you know there's gotta be a few dominoes falling per week. Beric is a safe pick, since I was surprised he survived the whole trip north. I can also see the Greyjoy family squabble ending early (with Yara perhaps being the only survivor), since they're about the most minor pieces on the board.

True. Guess we never saw what they did with the body. Jon is coming back to Winterfell, though, so I would assume he will make sure it's disposed of properly.

Good save.
It would be kind of funny of Baelish came to rule, as the Night King, finally with Lady Stoneheart by his side....If you're Baelish, you gotta say 2 out 3 ain't half bad!

Pretty good episode...some funny lines. Not as much action as I'd like after waiting 2 years for the episode, but definitely setting up the rest of the season to be a massive war-filled season.

I mean, it's rarely not good.
I agree it was transitional and moving pieces. I was just disappointed that's the first episode we got after nearly 2 years. The episode summary might as well have been "hey, you're Aegon Taergyron...and meanwhile here's some other shit that happened"
I'm just surprised that with only 6 episodes left, that's all that happened. Although, to be fair, that was maybe only 1/10th of the final season.

It's weird how they are using Bran as a plot mover. Like how they are going through the motions of introductions and he's like "We don't have time for this, what you've brought isn't enough, what you've lost is now more powerful and working against you. Get moving." Then later on, "let's get the big reveal with Jon over with so he begins to believe his destiny as lightbringer (regardless of if he is, it's obvious he's meant to believe it for some reason)." i'm not complaining about it, it's really going to help move the story along, but it's weird.

It was fine. I had two small squabbles.
1. If revealing the true parents of Jon is that important Bran, don't you think it would be he first thing you mention to him? Instead, he waits and then it is just Sam that delivers it, not the both of them.
2. The dragon riding scene should have been a way bigger deal. It felt odd.

Loved it. I want to know what Arya wants made. I couldn't tell.

The Bran part made me think a lot more about the fan theory of Bran being the Night King, as if so, he pure Littlefinger'd the fuck out of the situation (we're talking early series super-effective Littlefinger; not the impotently flailing Scooby Doo villain of S7).
1. Bran pretty much sees all, knows all.
2. Bran has Sam do all the talking re: Jon's parentage.
3. He picks the moment when Sam is emotionally shattered by finding out his dad and brother (who he seemed to even get along with in their small scene together a couple seasons ago) were executed by Dany for not swearing fealty to her. Therefore, Sam openly blurts that out to Jon, including a "she never told you that?" question.
So, in context with how the major theme of the show was the North's reluctance to accept Dany as their queen, since they chose him to be their king....
1. Jon now has been told that Dany has a little Mad King in her personality, as well as in her blood. With this news being the sort of thing that would really fracture an uneasy alliance if, say, Sansa would hear about this, considering she already doesn't like/trust Dany.
2. And Dany has a plausible deniability factor of "Sam was pissed at me, so he made up a story out of spite" to give her reason to dig in her heels with the "I'm the queen, I have the big fire-spewing dragons and THAT'S THAT!!!" talk that's basically carried her for a few seasons.
Then when you add in the fact that the only southern army that anyone is getting is one one-handed dude (making Tyrion look really bad as a Hand) and next week has the potential to be tense as fuck, regardless of whether I wind up looking as stupid as I did this week with my proposed kill count. Hell, have someone bring tidings of how Gendry is really a Baratheon and...well, that might actually be a defusing point, as I can see that played for comic relief with him wondering why everyone is staring at him and then freaking out.
In a funny note, I got a good laugh out of Jon in that scene.
Jon: Completely freaked out by hearing...he's actually a legit king and not a bastard. Does not even compute this news means he's also fucking his aunt.

A spear/staff with a detachable dragonglass blade? Or a double bladed staff that she could split in two if she needed to.?

One of producers said that only a targ can ride/fly a dragon. If that's the case why not save the dragon riding as a test for Dany to give Jon? Instead we got an Avatar sequence that ended with Dany saying nearly the same line that Ygritte said in season 3.

Yeah, agreed. Also, where the hell is Ghost, Jon's direwolf? If Dany is showing off the dragons, wouldn't Jon also say, hey here is my bad ass direwolf?

She did say her dragons eat what they want. And direwolves haven't had the best rate of survival this show AND it has been a couple years since one has been offed and there are only Ghost and Nymeria left, so yeah, I'd be keeping mine the hell away from any dragons!
