Seeing a few mocks where they take Barkley at #1 and the QB at 4.

Seems odd to me that that a front office based on analytics would draft a RB that high.

Besides DePodesta, that front office is gone.

I think the mindset behind taking him #1, by these "mockers", is that they don't want to miss out on him when they can get a QB at 4 and there isn't a bunch differentiating these top 3 QB's (Mayfield, Rosen & Darnold). In the latest one I saw, it had Josh Allen going #2 to the NYG's and the Browns taking Mayfield at 4, followed by Darnold to the Donks & Rosen to the Jets.

I don't agree with the RB at #1 but I guess I could live with it if they got their QB in FA. If that were to happen, I'd prefer a combo of Fitzpatrick/Chubb to bolster the defense if Chubb were to fall at 4. I know, #1 is too high for Fitzpatrick.

Drafting a RB #1 overall is a fireable offense.

I think there will end up being a large differentiation in those 3 qbs for an organization. I don't think anyone in top 4 just goes into the draft not giving a shit which one they get. Clearly there is a favorite, and that one should be drafted at 1 (unless they think that is Allen). The analyst I follow the most, in his top 50 he has 3 qbs top 11 in the order of Darnold/ Mayfield/ Rosen

I think the 2nd tier of running backs after Barkley are good enough to take in the 2nd round without wasting a huge pick on RB in the first.

Respectfully disagree. They all have their differentiations:

Height

Attitude

Accurracy

Rosen & Darnold win on height, Darnold also wins on attitude, Mayfield EASILY wins on accuracy. Rosen & Mayfield could get dinged on attitude although I've heard Mayfield is a gym rat who will sleep at the facility if that's what it takes to win. Have also heard that Mayfield may be the most pro ready, even better than Rosen. Also like the fact that Mayfield's done some research on the organization and knows the ramifications (hero status) and the challenge of turning the organization around.

If they have to take a QB at #1, Mayfield's my guy. Only thing that scares me about him is his height. Turnovers scare me with Darnold and Rosen isn't even on my radar. That dude is Ryan Leaf waiting to happen.

Let’s at least wait until these guys work out for pro teams. All we have now is college footage and it’s tough to see how that success will carry over to the pros.

I really want Bradley Chubb on the Browns. Taking a QB at 1 allows for that possibility to happen with him falling to 4. Please don’t take a RB at 1.

I want him too but almost every mock I've seen has him going to the Colts at 3. Obviously, mocks are speculation but I'm not sure he'll make it to 4. Pairing him with Garrett would only help accelerate both their production.

Here’s an interesting scenario.. let’s say the browns do sign cousins. Could you imagine the absolute haul trading out of #1 will bring? Everyone would be trying to jump ahead of The Giants to grab a QB. I could see the colts or even the broncos giving up a lot to get to that spot. Meanwhile being able to drop back to 3 or 5 while still being able to more than likely Chubb and Fitzpatrick meanwhile acquiring a shit ton of high draft picks.

Yeah but then you're stuck with Kirk Cousins and his $50M a yr salary.

Most Colts insiders have them targeting Barkley, if available.

If the Jets are truly willing to pay him top dollar then I I think it's safe to say Kirk coming to Cleveland is a pipe dream.  If everyone can pay the same amount, there is no reason for Kirk to come to Cleveland.

Really? Because regardless of their record last year, I don't see the Jets as a much better situation than the Browns.

Interesting timing because 92.3 just had Mike Mayock on and they were discussing the QB's in this draft. First off, he's far from thrilled with it and said there's not a QB even close to Wentz in this draft. Said if he had to "pick his poison" he guessed he'd go with Darnold. Also mentioned Darnold's turnover/fumbling issues go all the way back to high school. I don't see that improving against better/faster competiton in the NFL.

The one QB he was very intrigued with was Lamar Jackson. Not as an early choice. Was comparing him to a bigger Mike Vick except he makes 3-4 "wtf" throws a game.

The scenario of Cousins-Jarvis Landry-Barkley (at #1)-Fitzpatrick (#4) along with rest of FA and the draft was brought up and Mayock said that if that were to happen, they'd be "immediately competitve" and "competing for the division."

“There’s no Wentz in this draft” just like people said “there’s no Winston in this draft”—then Wentz happened.

I don’t really give a shit what mike mayock says, there’s going to be a big time QB in this draft. Browns need to do their homework and find out who that is.

Landry was tagged tonight so that's out for now.

Yeah, that might hold water had Mayock not been the one beating the drum for Wentz as not only the #1 QB, but the #1 player/athlete in that draft. He's not even sure any of these QB's would be in the top 10 PLAYERS in this draft.

And the "there's no Winston in this draft" comment is kinda dumb since he sucks and wasn't even the best QB in his draft.
