Yeah, that might hold water had Mayock not been the one beating the drum for Wentz as not only the #1 QB, but the #1 player/athlete in that draft. He's not even sure any of these QB's would be in the top 10 PLAYERS in this draft.

And the "there's no Winston in this draft" comment is kinda dumb since he sucks and wasn't even the best QB in his draft.

My point was everyone said that before the went draft. Everyone always says there isn’t a great qb in the draft before the draft. And there’s always a great one.

Yeah, and my point was that Mayock (not everyone) said there was a great QB in that draft (Wentz) and there was one. Now he's saying these guys all have significant holes in their game (Darnold= turnovers, Rose= desire/does he love the game, Mayfield = height, Allen= unknown, etc, etc). I know they need a QB and would have to pull the trigger at some point but I don't like any of these guys, outside of Mayfield. That's why I've been on the Cousins bandwagon but if the Jets pony up $60M guaranteed in the first year, forget it.

Pretty much this.  In fact the wentz/goff draft the consensus was it wasn't a strong QB class and the majority (not mayock) had Goff as the consensus #1.  Both have turned out to be great picks, but at the time the consensus was the assets traded for both prospects was not worth the value.  Btw, here is mayock's rankings of the 2014 QBs.

Quarterback
1. Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M
2. Blake Bortles, Central Florida
3. Derek Carr, Fresno State
4. Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois
T-5. Zach Mettenberger, LSU
T-5. Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville

He also thought Geno Smith was a first round talent,  RGIII was a 1st overall talent (he had him 2nd only because of luck),  Weeden a HIGH 2nd round talent (better prospect than cousins),  and he had Blaine Gabbert PLUS Jake Locker ranked ahead of Cam Newton.

Mayock might have called it for the 2016 draft, but that doesn't mean what he says is even close to always being spot on.  On paper, this QB class has more depth than previous classes. I think there are a couple franchise QBs in this draft.  The browns just have to make the right pick.

Exactly. He called the Wentz prediction, which was a good call. He’s had some other good calls. He’s also had some bad ones. Everyone has good and bad calls. The fact that he’s saying this isn’t a good QB draft means jack shit to me. We haven’t even seen any workouts. Let’s pump the breaks on the hot takes.

You realize every elite QB had at least one issue in college? Stafford had a 58% completion % at Georgia, roethlisberger played poorly against top competition at Miami, etc.

You can’t predict this shit man. It’s a fucking guess. Mayock was right on Wentz, he was wrong on Manziel. Every QB prospect has positives and negatives coming into the draft.  Rarely, if ever, are there zero good QBs in a draft. This one will be no different.

Good god....if you want some laughs, go over to 92.3's podcast of Carman & Lima's interview with Evan Silva of Rotoworld yesterday. Silva is a Sashi Brown apologist and hates Hue Jackson.

Silva, when talking about the Browns defense called Larry Ogunjobi "untouchable" and "the next Ndamukong Suh."

He said Hue Jackson was worse at coaching than a pee wee coach and that Sashi Brown botching the AJ McCarron trade "Not only saved the Browns....it saved football!" as in football would no longer exist if this trade went through.

Funny shit.

Evan Silva sucks

He sounded like a little kid. Also sounds like he gets all of his football "knowledge" from Football Insiders and PFF and just regurgitates it..

I agree. I thought he was actually good, and a player to build off of, but not the ""game wrecker" Silva referred to him as.

I don't disagree with this at all.

One of my co-owners in my company is connected to one of the Browns higher up's through a mutual friend and they met earlier this week. My boss asked him "what are you going to do in the draft?" and the first thing that was brought up was Kirk Cousins (by the exec) which my boss replied "that's not going to happen." The Browns exec then stating "I can tell you this, if we don't draft a QB high in this draft we will lose the fan base." My boss has been a "build up the defense, get the QB later" type and wants to use 1 & 4 on defense. Nothing new, or earth shattering, but just wanted to add it here.

Matt Miller (Bleacher Report) compares the QB's. Also some notes about other players, including Minkah Fitzpatrick, at the bottom....

Hope the rumor that the Browns don't want a QB at 1 isn't true. Also, if Cousins goes to Minny, I'll gladly take Keenum.

I'm sure if they will end up liking one of these guys and if they feel he won't drop down to #4, they'll take him at #1. If they feel they are interchangeable, all bets are off.

So Rams get Peters and a 6th this yr and only gave up a 4th this yr and a 2nd next yr? WTF? Why weren't the Browns in on that?

Have a feeling they will target Trumaine Johnson in FA. He's likely the odd man out in LA.

See where the Vikes will likely go all in for Cousins and they won't tag Keenum or likely bring him back. Thoughts on Keenum as the bridge QB for the rookie? (That question is for everyone btw)

I'd rather have Keenum over McCarron because I could see a Hoyer/Manziel situation between McCarron and a rookie. Keenum is older and has been a backup his whole career where I think McCarron might think Dalton's been holding him back from being a starter and may be dumb enough to think he could be someone's franchise guy.

Keenum would do just fine in Cleveland, if Gordon sticks around.
