Tom's character sucks.  Can't stand his interactions with Greg. For the record, I'm on S1:E5

Finished season 1 tonight. Technically every character sucks. Personality wise they're all abhorrent. Sometimes their character can be miserable and you hate how they are but then they can be enjoyable too. I’m not a huge fan of Tom but he’s great for the show. 

I think the OC has wayyyy too high of an opinion on Succession.

Tom is terrible. I can't believe I'm in the minority on here with that opinion. 

Tom is great.

When they go to the weirdo underground party. So awesome.

Also it's not just the OC. Won the Golden Globe for Best Drama and Brian Cox won best actor.

In 2 seasons everyone but Greg has been nominated or won an award. McCulkin (nominated) and Cox (win) for Golden Globes as you said. Critics and fans both love it. It’s definitely not just an OC thing. S&L personally didn’t like it, which is fine, but he is dead wrong about its popularity.

Lol what? I didn’t say it’s not popular, I even said a few weeks ago that I know I’m in the minority and a ton of people love it. I just feel like you guys think it’s way better than it is. IMO the characters are all awful, and who wants to watch a show where the characters are all awful and annoying? 

Different strokes. I never liked Breaking Bad.

And that’s fine and I’m not disagreeing. I’m saying if you read this thread, you’ll think Succession is the greatest tv show ever.

No, but outside of Saul it’s probably the best going currently. So, we talk about it as such. It didn’t get much love S1, when GOT was still on, because we all talked about that. 
 

And I think awful characters is what makes a show. Game of Thrones was littered with horrible people. Same with Breaking Bad. And Sopranos. The Wire had a few good cops, but that’s it. Even comedy wise, Seinfeld and Sunny, horrible humans. Succession has a family of awful people, but they have redeeming qualities within the show of less awfulness than someone else lol. 

I just strongly disagree. I couldn’t get into it at all, and I thought the characters and their “comedy” the show was going for was so fucking stupid. It wasn’t funny, it was just annoying to watch. That’s way different than “I kinda like Joffree’s character because he’s such a bad person”. 
 

ETB’s example of Greg and tom’s back and forth in S1...that wasn’t funny at all. Like not even close. I thought someone was messing with me because it was so dumb.  Then I come on here and you guys act like it’s the best thing ever. It sucked.

For the record, I hated S1 through like 5-6 episodes, but just decided to finish. Ended up really liking it. Then S2 was just 5x better, imo, and this became a top show for me.

When my wife wanted to watch it, and I had to rewatch S1 again, it was a lot better. One of those rewatches where it actually helped to know the end outcome.

There are several kinds of humor for sure. To each their own. I can watch episodes of the Office and hardly crack a smile. Seinfeld just moderately funny....but just my opinion. A lot of the new age funny isn’t funny to me either.

Tom's bachelor party where he thought what happened to him was awesome.  LOL.  Gross AF.

Finished (caught up) with Succession.  Damn, S2:E10 ending was phenomenal.  Tom is growing on me.  All of them are.

That’s by far the best episode of the show. All the shit talking “no offense” being thrown at the table is great TV. And the whole thing on a yacht...
