You could have posted that 5 years ago and it would still be a good post

1. I agree the majority are, but its definitely not like 99% of the protests stay peaceful, it maybe more like 60-70%, which is not good to be honest.

2. I also agree that it is being hijacked. The BLM organization is being hijacked by Marxists and many of the protests are being hijacked by Antifa and turning violent because of it. Antifa is a terrorist organization and is slowly trying to turn BLM into the same.

I’ve watched about 4 BLM protests go by my apartment. Sat outside and even once walked a few blocks with them (because I saw a friend and chatted with her). 100% of the people were friendly and peaceful.

You need to stop watching Fox News and OAN and whatever that is telling you that the protestors are angry and aggressive people. That’s just backing their agenda. They’re taking the handful of rioters and making it seem like it’s a third of the protestors.

You can also stop watching all the other media who spent 24 hours a day showing nothing but civil disobedience and violence to promote the anti trump agenda.  Now people that want to do it the right way are all labeled as violent.

I don’t watch Fox or OAN. Nice try though.

I count looting, rioting, breaking down private gates, blocking highways, etc as non-peaceful.

Lille I said, the majority are peaceful but if you believe it is 95%+ then you should stop watching MSNBC and Vox.

That was the sarcastic joke, I thought it was quite obvious. I mean I didn't even try to "hide" it. I literally used the equivalent of Fox and OAN on the liberal side.

I think both things can be true.. one of the protests I attended was completely peaceful from 10 am till about 3 pm.. as more and more people came it became more difficult to stay on the sidewalk. Instead of blocking off the street, the cops began to get aggressive with anyone who had a single foot on the sidewalk. To make it worse they were running large clidesdale horses up the sidewalk forcing you onto the street. People were doing their best to stay out of the street and next thing you know here comes the tear gas.. things quickly devolved and I left.. it got worse and then there was a lot of broken windows and some looting. It def isn’t a simple answer. I will say I didn’t see it coming. It was a peaceful uplifting experience before that. I will say there were those in the group who had signs that said police are murderers and were shouting murderers at the police for many hours so I think the police also had enough and wanted to strike back

Or maybe stop getting your takes from twitter Videos. “Omg they just knocked down a gate! That’s what 70% of the protestors are doing around the country!”

I find it interesting that people want to invalidate the entire blm movement over a few of their extreme members( I know they were the founders). The Republican Party has lots of alt right groups with extreme ideas, however you don’t invalidate that whole party. I hear people say all the time I don’t agree with everything the president says but I still support him, even after he just attacked a private citizen with lies(bubba Wallace) and chastised nascar for banning the confederate flag. Yet we hold blm more accountable than the presi

The difference is people freak out if you mention the bad parts of blm and the protests. It isn’t invalidating the movement, it’s pointing out it has problems within it.

If the leaders of 'the movement' are Marxists who are trying to overthrow our systems (which incidentally remain the envy of the world), then either fuck the movement, or the movement appoint new leaders.

It's pretty damn simple.

It’s their founders and it’s in their mission statement. I am not sure how you can chalk that up to “a few extreme members.” If it is just a “few extreme members,” then they let those few members hijack the entire organization.

I think the movement is much bigger than the “organization” at this point. It’s a very loosely organized movement. Not sure many people know or care what the original members thought at this point. Lucky we have a lot of great people to bring it up and point it out everyday!

We aren’t gonna get anywhere if every time someone brings up making changes in the judicial system someone says. bUt bLaCLIVeS MAttEr arE mArXiSts. Then in a few years we will be right back to more riots and probl
