Right. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with what he said and S&L is right, there’s a time and place. But if you’re still criticizing him after the apology then fuck off. He’s went above and beyond for that community, and that doesn’t give him the right to misspeak - if that’s what you think he did - but he should be quickly forgiven.

Did some of you all watch the interview? He was put on the spot and he has done a lot with the veteran community as well, so I understand his answer.  Also, Brees has done more for the black community than 95% of the people attacking him and virtuing on social media.

If anyone failed him, it’s his agent. His agent should have told Yahoo! Drew would not address those questions.

His comments really weren’t bad at all. Again, just an ultra-sensitive time rn.
the real POS comments this week came from Jake Fromm. Idk if you guys saw that yesterday, but holy shit what a douchebag. He’s most likely going to get cut by the Bills IMO.

I watched the interview.  I saw nothing that would indicate this man was some sort of shitbag.  It was clear to me that he views the US flag as symbol of freedom and liberation.  I don't think he misspoke at all.  The federal union has been the vehicle through out our history that has abolished slavery, ended Jim Crow, institutionalized and enforced civil rights throughout the union.

Look he was asked a direct question and answered it truthfully as he believed.  A question knowing his past thoughts on the subject to generate controversy given recent events.   There was not a deep discussion of the intricacies of our history and he fell into the trap.

I mean it also enacted Jim Crow? He easily could have said how much respect he has for the flag and what it means to him but that he understands the protest isn’t about the military and can understand the flag may not just represent his grandfather and may have been used to oppress other people for example

Ok this is getting crazy....dismantle the police?  Send social workers or civilians to police calls?  WTF?  A few other things:

1.  Say hello to Sharia law in Minnesota.

2.  How can the person in charge of the Floyd investigation (Keith Ellison) have a son that is actively protesting and calling for the police to be defunded?

Good lord, Jim Brown has come out saying he'd never kneel and desecrate the flag. It was a while ago but I haven't seen him backtrack on it recently.

No, I don't know the context or what lead up to this. But I cannot think of a scenario where a round to the face of a guy in a wheelchair is necessary. I could be wrong, but it seems excessive in ANY scenario.

I absolutely HATE how people cannot have a single opinion, or they are labeled a racist.

No issues with what Brees said. I am one that would not "protest" during the national anthem or any moment that is supposed to honor the country, military, etc. That doesn't mean I'm a racist. Disagreeing with a "protest" during the anthem doesn't mean one is a racist. One could just think there is a time to honor, and it should be left at that. It's okay. If someone wants to "protest" during the anthem, so be it...I won't be.

I support the protest that is happening now, but I don't support the looting, rioting, and damage that is done to all the innocent it's been done to. I don't support how several law enforcement officers have responded to peaceful protests. It's ridiculous how certain sides have come out and said "if you are silent, you are part of the problem." Just because I didn't change my Facebook or Twitter to #blackouttuesday doesn't mean I do not support the current protest and it doesn't mean I'm a racist.

The "blasters" who are out there trying to get everyone continues. I think it was posted on here about the cyclist who "assaulted" kids in Maryland. People are out trying to "out" him. Turns out several have put up wrong identification. Idiots. Ahhhh. I'm done ranting. Sorry.

Ok, but kneeling doesn't desecrate the flag.

In other news, Buffalo PD sent an elderly man to the hospital yesterday, lied and said he tripped, and then backtracked once they realized how bad it looked on video.

Cops keep doing this shit knowing it's being recorded. What do they do when no one is there to film? What else do they lie about? Something to ponder.

I saw two cops were placed on unpaid leave over the incident. The blood pooling from the old guys ear was pretty gruesome, I hope he's okay. It did not look good for him.

The comments I saw justifying it were pretty disheartening. I agree, the old guy probably shouldn't approached them like he did. But my god, he's an elderly man. Is there no reason they couldn't have detained and cuffed him without giving him a brain hemorrhage?

I read he's in stable condition. Laceration and probable concussion.

Same but just like the thousands of other people......you want to play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.  There have been 6 cops killed in the last week.  Probably hundreds injured.  If I wanted to "protest", coming up on cops anywhere would not be something I would do.

I'm sure the Buffalo PD are especially on edge due to the incident with several being hit by a car the other night. That said, knowing the entire world is watching, the optics on this are not good. And the backtracking by the PD make it look even worse.

While I agree, these cops are put in a situation by their local governments that is almost impossible to deal with.

I'm sure all cops are on edge right now, wondering how big of a bullseye they have on their back because of this guy in Minnesota (and previous instances). Not condoning what the bad apples have done because some of it is appalling. Would not want to be in a "good" cops shoes, especially right now.

Unfortunately, I agree with this to an extent. Did they need to rough up an old man? No, probably not. And trying to lie about it made it even worse. But you just don't know. All the time cops respond to the most routine shit and end up hurt/shot/killed. I'm sure the overwhelming majority of cops want to handle things safely and peacefully, but they also don't want to be too lax and end up stabbed or shot by some lunatic.

I know it's cliche but they are more times than not in a "no win" situation.
