Man, and weren't you the one who was giving me the "don't feed the trolls" talk about QQ a week or two ago? Not a good look to fall into the trap this quickly afterward!

I missed this, since it looks like we posted at the same time (where I admit I fell for it).  Even the best fall for a shit post every 2-3 years (should've known better with DA).  Other than the fact you respond to QO on a daily basis, you have a great point though!

Both sides have realized that playing the "victim/I'm offended!" card is a great way to cause any actual discourse to stop happening. This incident is just the latest "OOH, SHINY!!!" moment to distract people from actual issues because, regardless of how frivolous it was, it somehow became front-n-center news for multiple days. In a way, it's sort of entertaining how reality has gradually transformed into an episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Shit.  That's a better comparison than I'd proudly admit.

What makes me chuckle sometimes is that so many people just shit all over people who invest too much time and emotional energy into tabloid gossip and low-level entertainment (basically, the Kardashians+), and yet, those same people invest so much time and sweat equity into shit like this.  It's the same shit.  It just has political undertones.

It's one thing to talk broad-spectrum racism/classism/ageism/sexism/etc. and cite examples.  It's another thing to start with a single example and use that to wax philosophical about the culture or political climate at large.

Getting tired of this trash over on Lifehacker/Gizmodo.  The comments are hilarious.  And sad, seeing the racism/sexism directed at perceived racist/sexist boys all because they wore MAGA hats.

Lol, the Root is up there with Breitbart on the credibility scale. One's a right-wing site made for stupid trash of one color who want to be told all their issues are other peoples' fault, while the other is a left-wing site made for stupid trash of another color who want to be told that blaming whitey is the cure for what ails them.

The annoying thing for me is how all the former Gawker sites are inter-connected, so that if you want to read something on one of them, you get slammed with links for stories on the other sites, so if you find something interesting on Gizmodo or Deadspin or whatever, you'll at least get stuck seeing their links to whatever batshit ideas the "brains" at Jezebel or The Root came up with that day to promote the usual "white dudes be EEEEVVVVIIIILLLLL!!!! rhetoric.

This entire story is not ‘news’, and definitely not ‘news-worthy’.  People march around DC every single day regarding one issue or another, and some person is always making some issue with another person; no big deal at all.  But then, and ONLY because someone(s) wore MAGA hats, did national news decide to take notice of two people simply looking at each other, and then invent (fake) news out of it.  99% of the people would say  ‘who gives a damn, it happens every day’.  But in this era of Hate Trump/Get Trump, the demonization of anyone and anything remotely associated to Trump is always on the front burner.  It is simply stunning the depths to which the left and its media allies have nosedived; they have destroyed their profession and revealed their vile selves.

I don't know how many people felt sorry for the kids.  They were being stupid punks, and they rightfully bear the blame for their actions.

Also, while there are definitely some "pro-cop-no-matter-what" people in here, there are indeed people who object to exactly what you referenced.

Isn't the point of a summary to provide a brief statement of what has happened/ argued so far?  If so, this summary is a pile of shit at best.

1. 90%?  I have seen gut say it numerous times, I wasn't aware this was the official OC take on the MAGA hat.  Even if it was, it is better than your dumb ass "everyone who wears it is racist and it is why I was afraid to talk to my cousins bf, instead of being an adult and getting to know him" take.

2. I notice you are still avoiding all evidence, so the narrative can confirm your own bias.  But yeah go ahead and mock everyone for actually doing due diligence and watching the video.  Even the people in this thread who lean left and were clearly wrong have admitted they were wrong. You're the only smart one in this thread though (sarcasm if you can't catch it).

3. The kids getting yelled at and slurs thrown at them is a part of the story and why it escalated to a dumbass wacko activist to confront them.  You would know this if you actually took the time to review what actually happened.  It's out there dude, quit reading bullshit sources and just watch for yourself.

4. They aren't poor kids, because some dumbass guys yelled at them.  They are poor kids, because idiots like you apparently and everyone else fell for a false narrative and now are ok with trying to ruin their lives.  All because you all are rattled by a little red hat. This is why deadspin is now trash.

I remember when Magary was pure fucking gold with his NFL "why your team sucks" previews and weekly NFL columns during the season. And then he did this pure shift into "ANGRY POLITICAL GUY" in a way that makes it really obvious that sports humor and politics are like oil and water. Added points for how he's never shied away from pointing out how Bill Simmons regressed into a dude writing amazingly long-winded NBA columns where he tosses in a few gazillion random TV/movie references, while he's regressed just as bad, just in a different way.

I just said he was a vet and he was. I was wrong about the Vietnam part as was the Washington post 

I was actually pointing out and you are confirming that for some reason people are losing their shit in this one and have to make 50 posts a day to make sure that no one casts any blame at all in these kids, their school or the chaperones. I really didn’t give an opinion as it doesn’t seem like a big issue. I didn’t defend the guy I did share his side of the story which I feel is important in any story. I posted before you did the hour long video of the kids being harassed and you didn’t even click on it and Assumed I was disagreeing with you. It’s not just on here but on my fb timeline and on twitter I have people who must have took off work the last few days to make sure they respond and defend these kids in every post al day long like 100 posts a day. I find it funny and strange but thanks for proving my point. I’m sure this group of non voters are big trump fans and of course no racists wear mags gear that is the media.
