My family and I were sitting around the kitchen table the other day discussing how to cross a bridge in a snowstorm.  The question came up what happens when the bridge collapses and there's a fire on the other side?  It's going to be an extra 10 miles to get to the fire.  People could die.  What about the children in the school buses and water treatment trucks who can't cross.  Will children have to learn from home?  Will the water taste like shit?

Then we all reassured ourselves we have politicians that ran for office to help answer these questions.  Fears assuaged.  Rinse your plates and put them in the dishwasher.

I lost about the same amount of time listening to a clip of Biden saying this is what Americans are discussing around the "kitchen table".  I seasoned it up a bit he was a little bland.

Even with how it seems the main qualification for running for major office is to be an egotistical, selfish narcissist, Trump still finds a way to raise that bar farther than anyone else ever. Dude is out there not getting involved in a crucial swing state's races and calling for MAGAs to not vote R in elections because they're not supporting his claims enough. And the party has no idea on how to handle any of it.

You have people constantly brown-nosing him in an attempt to gain his favor, you have people bouncing back-and-forth between brown-nosing him and lightly criticizing him and people who aren't a fan, but there's nothing remotely resembling a cohesive reaction.

In combination with the Ds and how some of them somehow think the problem they're having with getting shit done is because they're not uber-woke enough as a party (yes, catering to the 5-10% that's farthest to the left is really going to appeal to the more moderate/centrist folks...sure, go with that, dipshits), I'd like to say that it's reassuring all these tools are exposing themselves as empty-headed morons...but the sad truth is that there apparently are so many empty-headed morons heading to the voting booth that everything is geared towards stupid fucks.

Like, the two commercials I've seen the most for the Ohio senate seat that's opening are (1) some dipshit boomer walking on a football field belching out every far-right cliche while saying absolutely nothing of note and (2) one that's against that Hillbilly book dude that's 100% "he hate Trumpy so FUCK HIM!!!" Things like platforms and actual political goals are meaningless -- it's just FIRE UP THE IDIOTS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS!!!
