What she said is not untrue.  She did not say it was how the Dutch commute to work.  She said they have historically skated on their canals to "get from place to place, race each other and have fun."  I lived in Holland for almost a year and this is very true.  They love ice skating and there is a big history of it there.  These jokers that tweeted about it sound like they have a collectivce Napolean complex about their country.  Go pick som tulips in your wooden clogs.

It's spotty as to when it freezes. 

I think she was trying to make a point about how important ice skating is to the Dutch culture.  That's where the sport of speed skating came from.  But of course in our present day, the easily offended cannot wait to pounce on any perceived slight.  I'm ambivilant toward Katie Couric.  But these stupid jackasses trying to turn it into an indictment of Americans in general are reaching.  

It'd be like a comentator saying that BBQ is an important food to the American South and then a bunch of people going apeshit about how we actually eat other foods, that we aren't all rednecks, etc.

Okay, I found my old copy of "Hans Brinker, or the Silver Skates" that my parents got me for me in grade school.  Where do I go to have it burned with the others?

Watched white last night for my first viewing of the Olympics.,apparently he is taking shit for dragging the flag on the ground.    When I saw it I knew this was gonna happen.

Not a good look for him and I'll give him a pass as I believe it's more intent than anything else that is disrespectful and he didn't do it as disrespect.

Really wish the nhl  ers were playing.
