Trump should win in a landslide now. This plays directly into everything he has been saying for years. Next week will be a coronation for him as he plays this up as he should. 

Also, this is absolutely crazy and is closest this country has been to the chaos of 1968 and 1969.

CBS already talking nasty about Trump because his one message said "God bless America" and his own experience of the shooting and didn't express condemnation for the violence. He may not have known the full story at the time.

What difference does it make? There were a bunch of bad headlines like this when things were unfolding. Media outlets refused to call it a shooting for like an hour.

USAToday was still posting stuff hastily as of last night when I went to bed. they had a blatant misspelling of "assassination" on their homepage.

it's not some grand scheme to make the situation look a certain way... they were just moving fast and producing shitty journalism.

Other difference is on the right (politicians and media) the ugly rhetoric is mainly Trump.  But the entire left has been doing this for 20+ years.

That's why Trump is so popular - he's the first Republican to use the same vile rhetoric as the left.

This is simply not true.  There are all sorts of voices from the left and right who have been ratcheting this stuff up for years.  The left wing nuts are crazy extremists.  The right wing nuts are crazy extremists.  Unfortunately there are lots of both.  I think we’d all make progress if we quit splitting hairs about which side is technically worse.  There’s no winners in that.  Meanwhile we’ve ceded our public discourse to the AOCs and MTGs of the world - inflammatory idiot.

I was talking specifically about the politicians and their media.  The party of "isms" have been using those labels perjoratively for 20+ years with anyone that disagrees with them.

Saying Trump is Hitler is over-the-top vile hyperbole.  Saying Biden is senile turns out to be true...
