I think he lived a pretty hard lifestyle. Cinderella was one of the better hair bands. 

What's nuts is that, I believe, Cinderella's keyboard player Gary Corbett, also died that same day.

Charlie was the beat that made them the Stones.  He was as integral to the sound as Mick's voice or Keith's riffs.  They can go on playing covers, but there is no Rolling Stones without Charlie on the skins.
