I just go back to his interview last season where he said he waswas concerned about the possibility of be traded to the browns. Just trying to get a payday, he can GFH. DRAFT A ROOKIE.

No thanks. Don't want any of these QB's in this draft. Won't likely happen but I'd go after Cousins and trade down from #1 (not far) and get a haul.
BR you say this every year with the QB class. At least one of these QBs is going to be a stud. Take the one you think is best and surround him with talent and good coaching. This isn’t rocket science.

It seems that every year the Browns pick #1 (or #2 except for 2016 SMDH) is a weak elite QB class. Maybe unfounded perception on my ecocentric mind.

Yeah, it kind of is rocket science. You pick the wrong one and you're set back a few more years. I know the rookie pay scale is different now, so they wouldn't be tied to a Sam Bradford-like contract, but if you burn the #1 overall on a QB, you're likely tied to that guy for a few years to see if he's going to pan out.
You and I are on the same page about the QB, the Browns NEED one in the worst way but this (again) seems like the old "taking a QB just to take a QB" when every one of these top 3 guys have their issues.
If Fat Ass should win the Super Bowl and retire, the Browns would have a shot to land what would be the best QB in the division.

Who was the last QB in a draft who didn't have non-trivial issues?

Probably Luck and his career may be over.
If I were a Browns fan I think I'd prefer signing Cousins and trading down from #1 (the Jets would likely trade up from #6) and invest my two top 10 picks into other positions of need.
How long would this 29 year old investment last and would they get the other pieces before he starts to deteriorate?
I'm sure the could get 7-9 with him, this roster and the picks forthcoming.

Kind of my thoughts. Six higher level draft picks along with a ton of cap space ($112M projected currently, would obviously have to deduct what they'd pay Cousins) and they could improve, in a pretty weak division, quickly.
Yes, trade down and take DL and tight ends. It’s worked so brilliantly for us!

Who said anything about DL & TE's? I think they are solid at DL and Devalve & Njoku are good enough at TE. They need DB's and at least one WR. Maybe a LT and a RB (later), use the rest on defense and maybe a developmental QB.

Probably because they have done stuff like that before. The problem with his comment is that they'd already HAVE the QB, in Cousins, before the tradedown so they wouldn't be kicking the can, passing on a QB, like with previous regimes.

I don’t want to fuck around and win a couple more meaningless games and screw us out of getting a qb of our future. That’s all cousins would do. We’d still not have a franchise qb, and we wouldn’t have a pick that’s in position to get one because we won 5-6 pointless games.

And you don't know that they'd pick that "franchise QB/QB of the future."
But you know they won’t get it picking 6 or 7
