Haven’t watched any but glad I missed the Opening.

Will watch some basketball, a lot in the later rounds, tiny bit of gymnastics, diving….a bit more swimming and a ton of track and field

I love watching water polo. I’m a shitty swimmer so I’m so impressed by what they do. The US women are a pretty damn good team.

Yeah it’s crazy what they do ….I’d last 35 seconds and then struggle to stay above water lol

I thought the opening was great.  Way different from normal and very cool

I typically like some of them but too many theatrics each time for my taste.

I’ve watched a lot of rugby. Isn’t that typically dominated by Australia, Fiji, New Zealand? France won the gold medal this year.

Water polo is intense.

Opening ceremony was awesome, especially the last hour or so, the torch lighting.

Seeing Nadal was a shock, but very cool. Then to have him on the boat with the legends was cool.

Ending with Celine on the Eiflel Tower was moving.

I've had them on all weekend watching all of it. Handball, archery, cycling, swimming, all of it.

Ohio state alums already with some medals in swimming and fencing.

I haven't watched hardly any of the Olympics in decades. I really liked to watch them as a kid, but they were pretty much the only thing to watch between CBS, NBC and ABC lol!

I was out for a lot of the weekend, but did get to watch a few hours yesterday. Some good competition, but I have to say I was a bit annoyed by NBC's love of star-fucking.

Women's gymnastics is going on and they kept panning the camera up to show Lady Gaga, Tom Cruise or whoever in the stands to comment on their presence and I think they closed the night by interviewing some celeb-type. I mean, there are a ton of sports, many of which most of us only pay attention to during something like the Olympics -- with those sports featuring a lot of athletes who bust their asses to be there. So maybe put all the attention on what they're doing instead of letting us know what famous people showed up to see them (while hilariously awkwardly trying to shoehorn some stupid-ass Tom Cruise "Mission Impossible" reference in to something some gymnast is trying to do).

But in full disclosure, my "out for a lot of the weekend" was at the local race track, so I was having an all-day Sunday hangover day, which just kinda sorta mighta made me a bit pissy about shit like that!

Agree.  Like his movies or not, Tom Cruise is a fucking dope.  I don’t want to see his fake ass smile unless I paid to see it in one of his films.

Peacock app actually does a great job of keeping track of live events and makes it easy to watch what you want. 10/10

Ironically, Hitler was the one who made it a spectacle. First to have an opening ceremony parade and first to have the handoffs of the torch/lighting of the torch.

The guy understood ceremony and symbolism like few others.

I gotta say, I’ve enjoyed Snoop. There’s something immensely likable about that guy.

The 3x3 bball teams are both 0-3 after entering with medal aspirations.

Jimmer Fredette didn’t play in today’s game. The team technically has four players and will sub out every couple plays or so. So playing the whole game with just three guys and still only losing by two points seems honorable. But if he can’t play or isn’t 100% then their hopes are down the toilet. Probably already are anyways.

Idk if I enjoy the 3x3 style or not. It’s definitely designed to be fast paced and intense. Fredette was on the Ryen Russillo podcast a few weeks ago and kind of boasted about his shooting ability - which he is known for to be fair - and how if he gets hot and hits a few deep shots in a game they’re that much more likely to win. But that seems like a tough ask in these games. They’re playing in a court about the size of a third of a regular court with very little spacing or separation. Hard to get many good, clean looks. Plus I think he was the shortest guy on the court and was getting hunted in the PnR’s.

Tl;dr: the 3x3 bball teams suck so far.

Biles joins Phelps and Bolt as two of the top Olympians I can recall in my life. I think those three, along with Carl Lewis (I was only 10, but have distinct memory of him in 1996), would be my Mount Rushmore.

What about Ledecky? 12 career medals, with a chance to add two more soon.

Craziest thing about Ledecky is her best event, the 1500m, she has every single one of the top 20 times all time in that event.

Thats nuts

Simone mad a great comeback I was happy to see it. I didn’t want her to go out like that.
