Listening to a lot of vinyl records lately, got me thinking about my favorite rock albums of all time.

This list isn't in any sort of order.

Master of Puppets - Metallica
Lateralus - Tool
Meddle - Pink Floyd
The Band - The Band
Tusk - Fleetwood Mac

Their early thrash stuff is great.

Agreed. Everything before the Black Album was really good. Thought they started getting a bit too commercial with the Black Album, for my tastes. Kill Em' All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets were all great albums. AJFA was really good but fourth on my list of those mentioned. Seems like most of what they've put out since then is "trash" not "thrash."

Yep, all 4 great albums, I ended up buying them all on vinyl. I like the black album, but that is where their stuff really changed.

Just picked up a copy of Rumours (still haven't found a decent copy of Tusk) and it's such a great album.

Agreed.  Fleetwood Mac is an awesome band.  I think they sometimes get lumped into a lite rock category which they are not.  Rumors is a fantastic rock album.

In no particular order...

Megadeth - Rust in Peace

Iron Maiden - Live After Death (maybe a bit of a cheat to use a live album, but it was the first Maiden I got and what got me into them to the degree I own about everything they've done)

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

The Cult - Electric

Suicidal Tendencies - Lights Camera Revolution

For me, it might be the ultimate thrash album (with Suicidal's on my list being the top competition due to the totally manic rage infused with sarcasm that whole album had). Eight songs (plus whatever you'd call Dawn Patrol), with none of them being overly long. Great technical instrumentation. Just the perfect thing to play if you have 40 minutes or so to kill.
