Did you go to private schools or public schools? Where would/do you send your kids? What are your reasons?
Just interested since I see a big mixture from my friends and what they're doing with their children.
Private, both elementary and hs--and we sent our kids to both as well. Our main reason, of course, was that we felt that since we lived in Toledo (and not a suburb), they would get a better education, because, well...TPS sucks.
That being said, we here in the Toledo area have wonderful public schools in Perrysburg, Maumee, Anthony Wayne, Sylvania, etc, so that could've have been an option had we lived in one of these towns.
Public. Public school was fine where we lived so no reason to go private, and we aren't Catholic to go to a Catholic private one. I will send my kids to a public schools because we moved to an area with great public schools. Private schools down here are the price of college, F that.

My sister in law in DC suburbs paid less for her kids college tuition than their high school tuition. That's nuts to me lol.
Public school.
The academics of high school are overrated IMO. I went to an extremely average public high school and had classmates attend top-6 business schools, top tier law schools, entrepreneurs worth tens and hundreds of millions, etc. If your public schools are unsafe, or you want the religious element that many privates offer, that's one thing. Otherwise, my experience is that paying for public schools and a private school on top of that just isn't worth it.
Public throughout. I wish I was pushed harder. I coasted the entire time.
For my kids? TBD. Too many variables to consider.

I'd imagine being in NYC you'd probably be faced with the same issue of private schools costing a shit ton, right?
I don't have kids at the moment, but if I ever did, I'd most likely bounce. Raising kids here seems like a nightmare, a very expensive nightmare.
Public K-12
Starting in fall of 1979 I’m not sure there were any private schools. I know during the late 80’s there was a private catholic school for K-8 and in early 90’s another one became available K-12.
My part of the state is vastly public. Those that are private are tiny schools you’ve never heard of (often people in neighboring counties haven’t heard of)

I have friends doing it. She's on broadway and he's a music producer at Atlantic so they have some money. But it still seems like a pain in the ass. Taking car seats in and out of ubers... shit like that.
Public. I will send my future children to public school, as well.
Public. If I had kids, no problems with continuing that.
Public throughout. DoDDs schools for most of my elementary. I mostly had good/great public schools in the areas I lived and it wouldn't have been worth the tuition to go to a private school over the public schools.

Public from K thru 12. Made sense, since all of the school buildings were within 15 minutes walking time from my house, and none of it involved walking on public roadways.
My wife, however, attended Catholic schools all the way, and had to do some hellacious walking to get to a city bus stop to catch a ride to school. We can never relate to each other's school experiences because of this.

Washington County
Public School for the first few grades, them Private Catholic School for the 5-6 grade because of disciplinary reason (that didn't work), back to Public School. We moved a lot so it was easy to just enroll me into Public System within the same general location.
All my girls went to public school … reason .. You get out of education system what you put in. The more you invest in yourself the more you get back in the future.
Public, I'm philosophically opposed to private schools and it would be a non starter with my partner to even consider private. My partner is a public school teacher that went to a $40k a yr private school in fucking Mountain View/Palo Alto (one of the wealthiest cities in the country). Talk about a waste of money. We are going to be much smarter with our income than her parents.
Private. K-12. Probably sending kids to public, which is what we’ve based our most recent move on.
