Justin, I wonder if that’s because the trading may be halted for a bit? Food shortage...?

What he said isn't completely bat shit. Besides the fact that a lot of people have gone into full on panic mode, all it takes is for one or two people to get this virus at places that produce these items and you're looking at plant shutdowns. I laughed at the toilet paper thing but if people at several of those plants get it and they have to shut down for an extended period, there could be a shortage. Now I don't know if someone needs 150 rolls of TP but that's the idea in general. As far as other perishable items (fruits, vegetables), if they are brought in from other countries, that could halt.

We were talking about this the other day and were discussing how companies like Amazon could thrive even more with people hunkered down, not going out, and getting everything delivered to them. Problem could arise those if some of these plants in the paper & packaging industry have to have plant shutdowns and can't deliver to Amazon's demands. I know this is "worst case scenario."

This is even sketchier evidence than what I provided before, but...

I think we're going to be quarantined for a few weeks. Prepare or don't. If you do and nothing happens, no big deal. If you don't and something happens, good luck. Given the events of recent days, I don't think they're going to be fucking around with this much longer.

Jesus...the mother of our grandkids put in a 3 week grocery order for Walmart online yesterday. She went out there and they told her they cancelled her order (took the money, of course) and told her the money would be back on her account in 48 hours. She said the shelves were bare and people were taking items out of other peoples carts in the store.

Woof. People are insane.

At least the folks at Kroger last night weren't animals.

Latest tweet from DeWine:

We project we have 100,000 people at least who are walking around with #COVID19 in #Ohio. What the experts tell us is that this number will double every six days. We're in some tough times in Ohio, and it's very important to do all we can to slow this down. #COVID19OhioReady

Weird. It wouldn't load at all on my phone but works fine on my computer.

We just got back from Kroger. Pretty crazy, still a lot of stuff available but the shelves are definitely getting bare. Lots of people out buying full carts of stuff. My wife and I filled a cart, should be enough for a month if something drastic happens. If not, we've supplemented our grocery shopping through the summer.

I will be making a late night grocery trip at some point for non-perishables.

This is serious.  Very serious.  Freak out panic mode?  No.  But people should treat it as srz bznz.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I'm not freaking out, but I'm damn well preparing for something drastic to happen.

Yeah, I'm not prepper level, but I'm stocked with food and water for about a month plus.

Wife went to Costco yesterday to grab some fruits and such. She said it was busy, but not crazy, end of the world level. The place was still pretty much well stocked.

Yeah, this morning, I hit a couple area stores and got enough food for at least a couple weeks. Didn't have any trouble. Both places were well stocked on everything I was looking for, with the exception of TP, and no one was being pushy over anything. Was weird dropping a couple hundred in one trip and having to make a few trips from car to house to unload it all, since I usually don't keep much in the house at any given time, but all things considered, I thought it'd be smart to be more prepared than usual.

Listened when it came out, very informative. Lost me a bit on the deer discussions though.

Left work early hit the local grocery store to stock up.  No shortages except TP, hand sanitizer, and for some reason hamburger.  I don't know if they had a promised shipment of TP coming in but several women were standing by empty shelves like they were waiting.

Just went to Walmart to pick up a few more items, non-essential things. Wife needed body wash and face cleaner. Picked up some oreos and milk that lasts until June if you don't open it. Beer and ice cream. And an Xbox One X Star Wars bundle.
