I've taken a few years off from Pumking. May have to give it another try this year.

Platform Icey is the only fancy beer I've tried this summer. It's very good.
How about AB buying Platform Brewing...

My understanding is that the founders are retaining the right to control the vision. Sounds like that might preserve the integrity.
Here's hoping, anyway.

Sounds like every small brewery they bought then it didn't happen. I'm saddened that they would start a company then sell out. It's the Magic Hat Brewing Syndrome. Those guys went even brewers, but Ad Agents that started a brewery just to sell it off.
Grabbed a bottle of Wicked Weed Silencio (bourbon barrel aged sour) from the cellar tonight. Fantastic beer.
Silencio is a sour black ale artfully aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. The addition of Madagascar Vanilla Beans and El Silencio Coffee from local Mountain Air Roasting culminates in a complex and elevated sour ale.

Another brewery owned by AB Inbev!

Yeah, I remember when Magic Hat was sold. Those guys were douches, though. And that has nothing to do with selling to AB. They were that way before selling.
I remember when Magic Hat sued West 6th in Lexington because their "6" looked like an upside down "9". Douchebags for sure.
I'm a big fan of the Platform beers I've had, but I haven't had a ton of exposure to them since we haven't lived in Ohio since they founded. Here's a comment from Deadspin I thought was interesting:
They decided they wanted to be bigger than GLBC which of course would mean they are ‘better’ than GLBC.
So their entire plan has been to just crank out as much beer as they possibly can. Quality? Maybe! Not a priority. Nope. Just take up as much shelf space as they possibly can. White Claw’s hot? Fuck it, make a shitton of seltzers! (And they were allutterly awful.) Hey let’s copy something Rogue did years ago, it’ll give us another slot on the shelf!
One goddamn hundred and sixty-seven beers later...
Yes, 167 different beers and that’s not including brew-pub exclusives or ‘collaborations’ or one-and-done. GLBC over their entire life has done a total of 121 over thirty years and that’s including all of their one-and-dones and pub exclusives, like Du Rauch. GLBC makes 150,000bbl per year. Platform just got up to about 40,000bbl.
You just cannot do that kind of volume and produce real quality beers. And let me assure you, that is VERY much the case. It’s why they have a pile of ‘Berliner Weisse’ and Goses - take the same base, change it a tiny bit, throw it out the door. Lather, rinse, repeat until you’re sitting there demanding retailers give you literally 2-3x the shelf space of GLBC at the minimum.

It happens.
I've had more desire to go to Saucy or Masthead lately than Platform or GLBC
It is nice that you can actually get into FatHeads with the new Berea monstrosity
Well, trying something new. Doing a fast...while only drinking beer. My goal is to stick to 2-5 beers a day. Need to drop some weight. Focus on not eating just to eat.
Currently on Day 3, and it's not been awful.
What I've drank:
I'm trying to stay with some of the "healthier" beers that are claimed by different internet (yes, I know) sources. I've got a stock of Yuengling and Guinness, so that will be the most common. Finished off my Wowies, and had the Oktoberfest and Abita while I was out for "food."
I've seen a lot of positive aspects of this type of fast, and have pondered it for several months. Decided to do it when I was headed to Columbus on Sunday.
Hmm, I'm curious to see how this goes.

Me too. Today has been the roughest of them all. Back at the office. Typically have peanuts, cashews, or almonds to snack on. Went to Cincinnati with a colleague for a meeting, had lunch at a place and he ate a shrimp po' boy right there in front of me.
Over the last couple days it wasn't bad as I was out and about. Too much going on and no downtime for snacking. Trying to drink water to keep my mind off food.
posted by Verbal KintI had to look up my listing of lagers, not a fan either. Platform's Max Juicer is solid. I have no other lagers above 2.5 on untappd.
Pretty decent
