I love Melvin. Not only was that my grandpa's name, but they also make great beer. Love that they distribute to Ohio now.

Saw Jackie O trending on Twitter. Was worried, but it was just Trump blathering about Milania and a former first lady.

Had a Ruination this evening.

It's hard to go wrong with Stone ... except their Scorpion Bowl IPA.  I thought that was kinda gross.

Vanilla BCBS was great. The only one I double dipped on was from Hi-Wire out of Ashville NC. They had a sour brown ale aged on Palo Santo wood. I was pretty blow away by it. Late in the finish it dried your mouth up like tannins from a dry red wine...making want another sip to wet your mouth.

No, even though it's a Cincy beer none was to be found there. I saw there they are tearing down the old Hudepohl Brewery though with it's epic smokestack.

Went for day 2 of beer fest. Living Proof-Wild Ale was impressive from Country Boy Brewing. Never had anything from them until then. I actually tried this one twice. Deschutes brought The Dissident Marionberry 2018 Reserve and that was delicious.

I tried and liked very much Budweiser Discovery Reserve Red Lager. What I didn’t like was the price: $13.99 a six pack.

Shoot, I'll pay that for a six pack if it's a decent beer.

Not a fan of lagers, though ... or most anything Budweiser puts out.  Just being honest.

I had to look up my listing of lagers, not a fan either.  Platform's Max Juicer is solid.  I have no other lagers above 2.5 on untappd.

Yeah, I can't imagine I have any much higher, either.

Usually, if I want something that light, I'll go for either a session ale or a witbier/wheat.

I went back to the store to check and the price was mislabeled. Apparently it rang up correctly at $8.49, though. Much better.

Was up in Michigan the last couple days, stopped at the New Holland brewery. We tried the Dragons Milk white and maple oak. 10/10.

Tried the Rheingeist Hugh.

Hefeweizen with hints of clove and banana.

The jury is still out for me on it.

Southern Tier’s Warlock is extra delicious this year. Haven’t tried pumking yet.

At the risk of making a commercial, I wanted to mention a brewery co-owned by relatives by marriage, Joymongers Brewing Company, being named the 50th fastest growing brewery (out of 7200 members) by the Brewers Association. Both of the locations have 15-18 of their beers on tap at any given time. Well worth a stop of you find yourself in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem area.
