Amazon or not

I'm considering picking up Amazon prime for $100 a year. How many of the OC members have Amazon prime, use and is it worth it?

Is the savings really worth it or does it depend on how much you actually buy and what is the largest item you've ever purchased from Amazon prime?

Use it all the time. Usually cheaper and if you follow slickdeals there are a lot of temporary price reductions that save you money if you’ve been waiting for it. Baby stuff was the most expensive purchase, a crib and a recliner.

Free quick shipping.  Don't use the streaming part much for tv, usually watch netflix

My biggest issue with amazon is that I typically forget to use amazon (2-day shipping), and will wait around a few days before I run to the store.  Amazon is great, and their TV/Movie selection is good too.

I haven't tried the tv/movies yet....just being lazy.

I have not price compared, but even if not I love the convenience.  When I think of something I need, I just go and add it to my cart.  Then when I actually need it, or my cart has several items, I go ahead and submit the order for Friday delivery.

I also like that I can get free delivery (with minimum $35 order, I think) from Whole Foods and a few other grocers.  I tip like 10%, but it saves me a trip to the store and the time picking.

Otherwise, yeah, you have to use it or you're wasting $100.  I think they give you free 30-day trials, so you can go that route, too, and just stock up on a bunch of stuff and not renew/subscribe.

I mean, yes you have to use it for it to be worth it lol. What kind of question is that? But, if you use basically any portion of it (music, shipping, tv/movie, etc) it is worth it. I use all of it, and frankly, couldn’t live without it.

I love it.

Free books

Free audio books.

Free tv/movies.

Free fast shipping.

If you're not sure, just wait until Prime day this summer and it will be cheaper.

We've had prime for a long time, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Definitely worth the price.

Do you share your Amazon account with other people or relatives ?    good or bad idea

my daughter has a Amazon Prime account and she said we could use her account but just add our credit card and change shipping address when we order... save Belly35 the $100.00 bucks     Good or Bad idea?

For books, just search "free with prime reading" it's not a great selection but you can find new authors or some things of interest.

For audio books.  There is a thing called Audible channels that has a small selection of free books for prime members.  I have listened to a few good books or of there.

Might not be a bad idea to see if you get enough value before spending the dough on your own membership.

You should get a free book a month called Kindle First Reads as well (for kindle only). They aren't great books, but they are usually decent reads. You get to pick one out of 6 selections.

I have had/used Amazon Prime for years now and love it. Don't use the free streaming stuff as much but we buy a lot of stuff and just use the 2 day shipping. Also love have a free Twitch subscription each month. Also just found out this weekend about the Whole Foods delivery which is great even though I don't buy a lot from there. We only pay $40/month due to my wife still having access to a college email and getting a student discount.

I use that every so often as well. There is also a library option. I used that to read all the Ian Fleming Bond books for free. I "checked one out" for a month and then returned it and "checked out" the next one.

I also use the prime video, music, and the shipping all the time.

I have been a prime member since 2008, and don't foresee ending my membership in the near future.  The majority of my purchases come from Amazon.  It drives my wife crazy, but it's so much better than dealing with the hassle of going to a store in person.

You all are missing out on the streaming, because they have some great shows. I also use prime at whole foods, but their deals aren't that impressive.

I know that Amazon sells counterfeit books from China, and authors get nada.

Screw Amazon.

My buddy from Indy always uses it. That damn courier seems to never stop running around Dublin, I'm just not used to not having to go to the store in Toledo. Same day shipping is dope though
