This thread has turned even more depressing than usual recently.

Really start feeling old when icons from your childhood start passing away.  Seems like Trebek was just on 60 Minutes not long ago and still hopeful, and looking very well all things considered.

Fuck 2020.

TMZ reporting Alex Trebek has died at 80.

Great host. He really made that show and he journeyed through his cancer like a man's man. He will be sorely missed.

Been a bad couple of weeks for Packer fans -- Herb Adderley (81; October 30) and Paul Hornung (84; November 13).

Hornung was my father's favorite football player. I wore #5.

End of cool story.

About the time I started to follow the NFL, there was a Columbus Dispatch football sportswriter named Paul Hornung, a remarkable coincidence.  Not sure how common the name was, but I would always look at the morning paper and tell my dad "He doesn't look like a football player".

I saw this and saw that he was 60. For some reason, I assumed he was like 90. Had absolutely not clue he was that young.

I think he had a terrible alcohol problem.

Chuck Yeager at 97.  1st to break the "sound barrier", then 50 years later did it again.
