Do people still register for Fine China dishes? For those that got China as a wedding gift, how many times have you used it and how long have you been married?

We have a full set we got (almost) 17 years ago and I think we used it for one Thanksgiving we hosted early in our marriage. Now that we're getting ready to move we're trying to decide what we're going to do with it. It's been boxed up and buried deep in storage the entire time we've been in our current house (9 years).

People on Marketplace will snatch it from you.

It’s just stuff no one uses anymore

We didn’t register for any when we got married and have never had a use for it. I remember my mother in law was trying to sell three sets at a garage sale for like $5 a piece and they did not sale.

I don’t remember seeing it on any registry for the weddings we have went to recently.

I have three sets of fine china, all antiques, all inherited. Two sets are up in the attic. The Mikasa set, my favorite of the three, I got displayed in a cabinet in the dining room.

I would suggest holding on to them. As they age, fine china tends to appreciate. My Mikasa set is worth a small fortune right now and replacement pieces are expensive!

We have 2 sets, inherited from my MIL when she passed (before our marriage -- my wifes dad didnt want any, so gave the sets to his 3 kids). We have used it I think 4-5x for Christmas/Eve. I enjoy getting it out when we host a big holiday like that, but would likely not do it for any other occasion outside of like 5 days (Christmas Eve, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, or a fancy party; holiday or otherwise).

Much like CenterBHS, we have them both displayed in a glass door buffet table/cabinet. It acts the same as some of our expensive artwork on the walls. Just nice looking decor.

For sure do not get rid of it. That is all I can say.

That's a sweet print, I would definitely keep something that looked like that.

I will have to unearth ours, but I am pretty sure they are mostly plain with a simple silver design.

That is pretty bland for China.

What other items do you guys have that you barely use or don’t use. For us my wife has precious moments that we have kept in boxes since we have  had them and moved them about 6 times.

Now, I really like the looks of that style. It's a fairly epicurian design that establishes the food as the focal point.
