Colts are the worst run franchise in football.

What on earth was JB doing for 2 years? I’ve never felt so vindicated in my hatred for his coaching!

I was also saying that in jest. It’s the exact divisive rhetoric that I hate Trump for. I can’t sit here and pretend it’s ok.

Laley23 replied to "2024 Presidential Election Thread" at 04:08 pm

I actually think Fetterman is onto something. The Dems have tried to cater to everyone to no avail. Maybe calling them out and saying, "This is the alternative if you don't vote for us, you fucking idiots, will resonate". Its certainly worth a shot!

I don’t mind one deep ball there. Pick it up though on 4th.

Laley23 replied to "2024 Presidential Election Thread" at 04:59 pm

This is the exact problem democrats created. Too afraid to upset any faction of America. Cave to feels. I didn't want Trump to win, but he did, so accept it and get on with your life and hope that he proves you (me) wrong in the spots I think he has a bad plan. I want nothing more than to be wrong.

Was not Harris or Biden, was a Senate led bipartisan bill. Maybe it would have helped, but I doubt it.

The economy was the number 1 issue. The only way I think Harris could have won if she would have based her entire platform on improving the economy and moving toward a post pandemic economy.

I thought Trump's last few messages in the end were fantastic. One was, Trump: he can fix it.

The second was, Harris: Higher Prices. Trump: lower prices

It was a senate bill, but I thought Harris was the one who was driving it? Maybe that is incorrect.

And yes, the ridiculous messaging (lack off) destroyed Harris. If nothing else, Trump knows how to make people believe/agree/whatever word what he says and that he is the only person to be able to fix (insert issue). I personally think his plan -- at least the tariff portion -- is horseshit. It will directly impact me and my company if it goes thru, so that sucks. But I also have faith that like his first term, he will only go thru with a portion of his statements (selective tariffing, only deporting portions of the illegals and not all of them, etc). But with full control, who knows?

Oh yeah, striping the EOs was really dumb. Its like people that want Obamacare gone before a replacement is ready. Cant strip it and make something worse until you have a viable solution for replacement. Just incompetence.

I have been thinking the last day or so, and I do not think it would've mattered. But had Harris' bi-partisan border bill not stalled in congress and gone into effect, does she win? I say that not knowing if the border would've been secured enough to end the talk or not -- but it for sure would've been much better than what we have now. Would that have been enough? And if you think the answer is yes, or even a maybe, why on earth did the party not hammer that the republican's have been blocking the bill for years?

Woe is me posts are the absolute worst. Main reason I ditched FB 10 yrs back. Twitter is getting just as bad, but still too many journalists and sporting folks I like.

I've been trying to explain to some people that it's not the Supreme Court's job to create laws and kicking the abortion topic back to the states is the correct course of action. And boy, they just do not want to hear it. They still make the claim that RvW was law in fact. It really makes me wonder just how sick the state of our education system really has become.

When I graduated HS in the late 80's, the separation of govt powers was taught in clear terms, boring as all that was. Are our schools not as good about some classes as they have been in the past? Is it a national, state or district problem? I'm trying to understand where this lack of knowledge is coming from.

RvW should have never been a federal issue. I think the reasonings for the SC taking on the case as a constitutional right or not is debatable, though. And at that point, my problem is I hate overturning it without explicitly making it a law.

I do not really think a previous SC judgements should be overturned just because a new Justice has a different thought. Sets a bad precedent, imo. If you want a judgment overturned, it should have to be codified.

Well sure, but half would love them!

I do think both are smart enough, and not far enough left, that they would clean up the middle men in this hypothetical.

I voted for him in 2020 (Gary Johnson in 2016), but that was more of a "lesser of two evils" vote. This year was different.

Liking his policies, voting for him, etc =/= liking him. That is what I am talking about. Very few people think he is a good human being.

Stay off Reddit man, the echo chamber isn't good for you.  "You don't meet a single person who actually likes the guy" riiiiiiiiight

I am not on anything except OC and Twitter. And I specifically follow both sides on Twitter -- news agencies, immediately block the randoms.

But what crowd are you running in that likes the guy? Having a loyal fanbase is not the same as being liked. My entire extended family is conservative, they all hate the guy, but are never crossing party lines. Same with a bunch of my friends. I mean, yes, I do not live in Texas, or Florida, or the flyover states -- I am in IL, so the chance is already dwindled. But even when we were up at my Step-MIL farm in Wisconsin this summer, it was "God I cant believe we have to vote for Trump again".

I actually think this could be the best thing that happens to the Dems. I get your "teach them a lesson" mentality here but maybe now they will slide back toward the middle and get a more even keel candidate than these radicals. I'm not guaranteeing that Trump will be the cure all but the country couldn't take a chance on electing that.

So my centrist hope was the DEMS would have a route like this and make the right come back to the middle. Mainly becasue I didnt see a path where Trump would win a route. That was obviously wrong, and so I am now in the same mind as you and hoping the Dems adjust. It is their only chance, really. The first party that migrates back to the center will sweep for awhile until the other side joins them. At this point, it has to be the Democrats moving first.

Laley you usually are pretty spot on with your thoughts…I almost felt like you were reverse jinxing like I might do on occasion 😁

Nah. Just didn’t read the country. Which is not a surprise. Trump is an insane candidate to get a grasp on. You don’t meet a single person who actually likes the guy, but over half the country keeps voting for him!

I went more on historical precedent of the 3rd time/party in power/former president/etc the polls OVER compensate after UNDER hr first few times. That obviously didn’t happen, so my one track analysis was way off haha. Oh well.
