We are trying to decide where to take our next vacation. Where are your favorite spots you have been in the US and outside the US.

Mine:

Vegas (I could go for a week about every 3 months and love it each time)

Greece or Costa Rica both were great to hard to choose. I loved our Airbnb in Costa Rica and the food and natural beauty in Greece was amazing.

My Wife’s:

Breckenridge- combo of shopping and skiing

Greece

Isle of Palms (Wild Dunes specifically) outside of Charleston was one of our favorites. Loved the resort and the city of Charleston is fantastic. Jealous of  iclfan2 for getting to live there.

Outside of the US is Italy. Florence is probably my favorite of all European cities I have been to, and would love to be able to see more of the country.

Inside the US, I’m not really sure. There isn’t one spot I can think of that I’d like to go back to numerous times. Now that my kids are older (6 and 7) I need to find some new places to visit. Driveable, I’ve liked the Asheville area, Hilton Head, and Savannah (though very similar to where I already live).

International:

Spain, all of it, but Mallorca is my fav.

Mexico, Riviera Maya area is always a great, but highly depends on the season. Isla Mujeres is my go to for best beach.

US:

Always go back to Miami.

Had a good time in Siesta Key, I'd like to go back there again

Moab, Utah

Anywhere in the Rocky Mountains, summer there is underrated IMO.

I have a multi week trip upcoming. Mexico City then Buenos Aires.

I'm hyped, one of the best food cities on the planet. I leave in 2 weeks and I've hardly researched. I need to get on it.

Most places I have gone internationally, I do not want to go back due to wanting to see so much more of the world. But there are a few spots. US, similar, but since its cheaper, more willing to return places.

US (would return):

  • Sedona, AZ
  • Carmel, CA (anywhere along that stretch, really)
  • I'll second Rocky Mountains/Breckenridge + Moab
  • San Antonio during a big event
  • Charlestown
  • Northern Michigan
  • New Orleans (best during an event)
  • Maine
  • Gulfside of Florida (lots of places)

US (one time):

  • Grand Canyon
  • Seattle-Tacoma area
  • Outer Banks
  • Black Hills/Mt. Rushmore
  • Alaska (due to price)
  • Asheville/Biltmore
  • Santa Fe/Albuquerque
  • Puerto Rico

International (would return):

  • Paris, France
  • London/England countryside
  • Marseille/South of France
  • Queenstown, New Zealand
  • All of Italy outside of Milan
  • Grand Cayman Island
  • Ireland (was there for work, need to go back with more time)
  • Monaco

International (one time):

  • Colmar (France)
  • Sydney/Barrier Reef/Cairns, Australia
  • New Zealand (outside of Queenstown)
  • Milan, Italy
  • Machu Picchu
  • Galapagos
  • Anywhere Peru
  • Anywhere Ecuador
  • Cuba
  • Bahamas
  • US/British Virgin Islands
  • Bora Bora
  • Thailand
  • Barbados
  • Turks and Caicos
  • Andorra

Has anyone done a trip up the northeast coast. I would love to just drive the coast see the history and beauty. Of course stop at all the great breweries and seafood stops along the way. I don’t think I’ll be able to sell that to my wife as we usually travel with another couple whose wife is allergic to shellfish.

I second this one.  We stayed in a beachfront condo on the Isle of Palms several years ago and had an absolute blast.

If you're going to spend time in Charleston, and you like seafood, ask some locals who makes the best she-crab soup.

Winter got me down....well down in a way that I'm looking at trips.

I have a fam vacation next month, but I want to go somewhere warmish in April by myself. I may just do Mexico City again, but wow...its getting wildly expensive. The secret is out.

What about CHEAP beach destinations south of the border? Guatemala? Costa Rica (not cheap)? Panama?  I've never been to anywhere in Central America.

Also, considering Colombia, but I'm not sure I'm up for that right now as a place to go alone.

I think we are hitting St Pete’s in June. It’s my wife’s 50th this year and she loved the Gilmore Girls….I need to plan a trip for us to one of those little Connecticut cities and I need ideas for stuff in that part of the country. Martha’s Vineyard? Niagara Falls on the way? Stop in NYC?

I’ve been to Niagara Falls 20+ times. The Canadian side has better views but probably not worth going over just for that. You really don’t need to dedicate more than a couple hours to the whole thing.

We're planning on going to South Haven in June or July. Maybe Florida in March.

I’ve never been and always wondered if it’s worth visiting. I’m in Cleveland.  What’s you opinion?

Sorry…obviously forgot!

About 20-25 years ago my 75-80 year old grandma went on one of those Triple AAA bus tours up the east coast. She was gone for about 10 days and came home and all she had was 24 pictures she had developed from her old Polaroid camera. I opened up the envelope they were in and I couldn’t figure out WTh I was looking at….after some time I realized it was 23 pictures of her eye. Her eye in Boston, her eye in Hartford, her eye in NYC, her eye in DC. There was one picture though where she actually had the camera the correct way but it looked like a close up of a telephone pole…..it was the strap of the camera hanging over the lense lol.

In her defense the camera was very similar either way but lol all 23 pics wrong and of her eye

I got up and told this story during her funeral.

From Cleveland, probably 3.5 hour drive? Besides see the Falls, I’m not really sure what the appeal would be. You could research what else is up there and what might appeal. The Canadian side is very touristy.

But with a lot of landmarks, you look for 5-10 minutes then it’s like okay what else is there to do. And with the Falls I’m not really sure what to tell you.

I’d say do it. Niagara on the lake is awesome, tons of wineries and stuff. I think the maid of the mist is also a good spend if you’ve never been there. I’d stay in the Canada side.

If you do Costa Rica and wanna do the volcanoes and hot springs let me know. The Airbnb we stayed at was amazing and the host and his wife were awesome. The wife made the best food.
