I agree to an extent. In this case, yes... OSU should be #1.

I know how to get Pitt a big W
Also a 9 team parlay and had GT as one of them…other 8 hit
Cost me $35 and would’ve added $80 to my account….but it’s worth it for my kid to have a shot at ACC Chamoionship game and if anything a bowl game down south…not Detroit or Biston

C’mon boys
So Toledo and OU beat Miami in the MAC this season….all finished with same conference record but Miami is put into the MAC Championship game
Nice tie breakers
Dumb as the ACC having Duke

Agreed. Saw tha OU’s coach has taken an indefinite leave of absence. That sounds like a health issue or family emergency. Hope he’s okay, but it look like he’s out for the bowl game likely.
Ill be arriving in Indy around 7:30pm on Friday. And I am stoked.
Once and for all...fu Alabama. They're done. Not the best. End it.

Congrats Laley had to be an awesome game for you to be at. Playoffs will be fun.
Who does everyone think is out. I think Bama ends up out
Bama better be…didn’t even compete and have the most losses and the worst loss
I have a hard time believing that Notre Dame - “as a team” - decided not to play a bowl game. What competitive athlete is choosing to just not play anymore football for the next nine months vs practicing/playing for a few more weeks, even if the game is ultimately meaningless. It’s better to just be done for the season instead?

What a day that was. Topped off with the game going my way!
Notre Dame took their ball and went home.

In general, I agree with this. However, if I was a senior headed to the NFL...

As did Kansas State, Iowa State, Florida State, Auburn, UCF, Baylor, Rutgers, Temple, Kansas...
I think I read we have a conference game in on of the bowl games vs teams who played in November -- because TEN OTHER TEAMS declined to play in it.
Notre Dame taking the heat for all this is low hanging fruit. But this is going to be very common moving forward. A 16 team playoff might mean the other Bowls become mid majors only. I could see a world where Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, ACC, etc do not even bother if they don't make the 16 teamer.

In ND’s case, I don’t understand why you’d want to forfeit the practice time. I can kind of understand why this choice would be made when there’s a coaching change, but not here.

Probably depends on what teams in those conferences. The Kentuckys and Marylands of the world probably will take whatever they can get and be happy with just having a game, but I can see the big names in them looking at those minor bowls as not being worth it and just go all in on working the portal and recruiting during this time.
As for Notre Dame, I think the committee made the right call, but did it in the most ass-backwards way possible. Miami beat them and should have been ahead of them the entire way because Notre Dame didn't really do anything worth passing them other than having their losses at the beginning of the year instead of the middle of it. But they had Notre Dame in front until the very end, when neither team even played. Makes it seem like they're making their choices on whims instead of actually using their "data points".
Adding Alabama to the mix makes things more complicated. On one hand, I don't think you should punish a team for being in a championship game and getting that 13th contest when everyone else is sitting at home. On the other, they pretty much got dominated to the degree it feels weird to not punish them. Like, there's a difference between losing and getting smacked around and they got smacked around to the degree one could make a case that out of ND, Miami and them, they should have been the odd man out.

They don’t have to play. There were plenty who didn’t last year. But the overwhelming majority who aren’t seniors or going to the NFL still can play.
I just think we all called out players who did this yrs ago. Then it became the norm and everyone was like, "yeah, that makes sense". I think we are going to see this more again now. ND and some others this year. Soon it will be any top-40 brand team who doesnt make it. USC, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Auburn, Texas, etc. All those would fall into my theory this year. And it is honestly probably for the best, the bowl system became ridiculous and it needs to be cracked back down so that they arent meaningless. Get rid of the shit bowls and 5-7 teams, and bowl games on December 12th, etc. Make them scarce, meaningful, and teams will invest in them again.
Isn’t one of the benefits of a bowl is that you get extra practices you otherwise cannot have? Maybe that’s no longer a rule.

Nobody even has a team anymore this time of year. Players do not want to stick around and practice without anything to be practicing for. Fuck missing my christmas break for another week of hell -- to go play in the Pop Tarts bowl lol.

You’re right, most of the players and coaches are already planning where they’ll transfer to next. But as for not wanting to play, what else do they have going on? Now they get to go a full nine months before playing another football game. I hate to sound like the old guy here, but playing football is kind of their job. Sorry you don’t like the circumstances. Don’t lose too many games next year.
I am not disagreeing. I just see this becoming the norm over the next decade.
I’m just surprised teams don’t want the practice time.
I’m surprised coaches and players don’t want the extra time and a bowl game. I agree the bowls are dying and I know coaches more worried about the portal than developing what they have.
Feel bad for the 70% of the players that will never play after college or maybe ever again

A team like ND would be practicing for next year during bowl prep. Players leaving wouldn’t matter in that sense because they won’t be there next season anyway. That’s a lot of reps for next year’s squad.
If the fellas are too butt hurt to do that, well then I guess you cancel your bowl (or refuse your invite as the case may be). Look’s pretty shortsighted to me. If I were one of these collectives, I’d say “How about you get your fucking ass out there and get ready for the pop tart bowl or we’re not paying you.”
