As many of you already know, there is flooding going on in the Ohio Valley. The river crested a few hours ago and now we all have to wait until the waters subside. I live up on a ridge, so I don't have to worry about my house, barn or outbuildings flooding. But, to get off my road to go anywhere is impossible right now because the road at the bottom of my hill is under water. Last night I barely made it home (I was rather stupid and drove through the deepening water to get home from work).  There are also several landslides and sinkholes from all the rain.

My cell service won't let me upload any pics because it stalls out, but I'll post when I can.

Anybody else having floods?

Shit, I hadn't paid much attention. How bad is it in Marietta? As bad as 2005 (I think that was the big one when we were in school)?

I grew up across the river from Wheeling.

I’ve seen worse (higher water) when I was younger, but from the drone footage and pics I’ve seen, this is a bad one. Wheeling Island is rekt.

So I've tried to upload pics several times here but it keeps stalling out. I've been able to upload to other sites, so whatever lol

Getting higher water here and my back yard is a pool.

A little off topic but water related. Earlier in the week, a pickup truck driver hit a lady that was walking, after dark, just off a rural road that I live on. Truck threw the lady into the flooded ditch, guy (or lady) took off and left the lady for dead. They found her dead in the ditch a while later.

Are you on iphone? If so, you have to select the options link at the bottom and select one of the options other than "Full size" which is the default. Large or medium usually work.

If you're on android, I have no idea.

Yeah, I've got a droid pixel. It's ok

Since I can't upload pics here I'll post a FB site that has a little drone footage of Wheeling Island/Wheeling.

Glad you’re safe and property is okay.

My bf and I just spent the day at my aunt's and a few of her neighbors house, scrubbing down their basement with soapy bleach water and airing them out. The population of the valley is just getting too old to do that kind of work.

Super easy, though, with the premixes you just attach to hoses. Work smarter not harder, right? lol

Well, another round of flash floods here in the Valley. The Wheeling, Tridelphia and Valley Grove areas to be exact. If you look it up, it's the Ohio county flood from last night/Saturday.

Four inches of rain in just over 30 minutes. Five people dead, including the granddaughter of one of the ER X-ray technicians and I think her dad is a supervisor somewhere else in the hospital. Several people still missing. Hospital swamped with people battered and bruised but otherwise ok.

It’s crazy to think certain parts of State are flooding and I’m needing rain here in Central Ohio

Crazy how it works for sure. I have a property just west of Columbus (Galloway), and it's just been dry enough to mow for a couple of days.

The new tally is six dead with two still being searched for in the debris.

Let me just say that while it rained where I live, 25 minutes away they got four inches in 30 minutes. I had no idea that it happened until the next morning. So many people on FB that live in more geographically flat areas can't wrap their minds around how that amount of rain can be much worse when you consider the rundowns off the hills. It's devastating when that water gets funneled in like that. Like a power washer to an ant hill.
