WAR cream chipped beef in a popover.

What does WAR mean in this respect? I remember it from back in the day, but I'm drawing a blank.

I'm not sure I even remember what it stands for.  Just the usage.

Both my parents were military veterans familiar with SOS, but I never heard them say anything about WAR cream.  "Wild-assed something or other"?  Oh, these military euphemisms.

First time I remember having it, I was around 12.  Asked my mom what it was, she said, "SOS".  Me:  "What's SOS mean, Mom?"   Mom:  "Something on a shingle".  My dad is trying to hide a big grin.  I was clueless for years until someone explained it to me.  But I really liked having it for supper.

Just made beer bread.

Yes, mayo, not butter, on the grilled cheese.

Wait what... I have never heard of this so you put mayo on the bread instead of putting butter on it then grill it? I don't hate mayo but that doesn't sound as appetizing as butter. 

Also pizza is probably my #2 for comfort foods.

Pizza is my all time comfort food. I do enjoy a good grilled cheese with butter and parm crust. I never heard of the mayo trick will have to try it next time. I also enjoy chicken or beef and noodle with mashed potatoes. 

So, I tried the mayo thing.  Used mayo instead of butter.

So good.  The crust has an extra little crunch, and it adds a flavor.

Will make again.
