Season didn’t go as planned, but probably went about as expected.

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t start the offseason so fast, but Tribe are active already. Shopping Kluber, Carrasco, EE, etc. Ramirez and Lindor are reportedly only players off the market...though it will take a ransom for certain guys to be dealt.

Yankees apparently met with Indians today about Carrasco and Kluber. Thoughts on Andujar and someone else (Sheffield, Frazier, BP guy) for Kluber? I think it would actually be a great move for Cleveland, but only if they get Andujar, Sheffield and someone else. Anything less and I wouldn’t hate it, but wouldn’t love it quite as much.

This is going to be a depressing offseason.

LGT (among others) reported the Tribe shopping a few days ago. Jon Heyman today reported the meeting.

Yeah... already somewhat concerned.

What’s up with not offering Brantley a qualifying offer?... and shopping Kluber when he under control for three more seasons?

Shopping Kluber is probably a wise decision. Could actually make the team better as long as they stick to their guns and don’t settle. I can’t be positive...but pretty damn close that Tribe got the best years of him. If they can flip him at this age, with diminishing velocity and increasing IP, for his past performance and not predictive of the future ones, I think it’s a no brainer. Again, though, they can’t cave. HAVE to get 3 top players back. And if not? No big deal. He will simply start for us in the Divisional Series again.

Not sure on Brantley?

Well, I suppose one season early is better than one season late providing you hit the jackpot. Still, I would think the window is still open, why break up one of the best rotations in baseball? SMH.

I completely agree with this. Strike while the iron's hot. I've noticed little things from Kluber that imply he could soon fall off the map. If they can get huge value, do it. Inject the roster with some young players to keep the fans interested. As composed, I don't think anyone with a brain thinks they are a serious title contender. A staff of Cookie, Bauer, Clevinger, Bieber and X should be enough to win the division again.

Cause you'll still win division by around 10 games. Be in the playoffs. And have Bauer/Carrasco and potentially Clevinger/Bieber if they continue to develop, which we should assume they will based on the past few years with all these guys. Plus, you’re EXTENDING the window, pending on what and who you get back.

You don't want to panic and just give away Kluber but if you can get two to three everyday pieces for him you at least have to listen to the offers.

I don't think anyone wants to give him away, as he still has significant value, but if the offer's right, of course.

Seems Yankees are most interested. Any offer that didn’t start with Andujar, I hang up.

Donaldson to the Braves on a 1 year, $23m deal. So much for a "prove it" deal. Also looks like Chisenhall to the Pirates on a 1 year deal.

Seems pretty steep for Donaldson

So, you guys now have Moroff and Luplow and we now have Gonzalez and Chis, so does this mean that our teams are going to swap all our bench pieces before the winter is over?

Yeah, as I mentioned, I expected him to have to sign a one year prove it deal. Apparently not.

Interesting (and dumb) if true...

Bob Nightengale@BNightengale

Teams talking to the Cleveland say the Indians are much more inclined to trade Trevor Bauer than Corey Kluber or Carlos Carrasco. Bauer has 2 years of club control left, but the only one of the starters with cost uncertainty. He has two arbitration years left before FA.
