Where I talk to myself off and on throughout the season about this team. Would have started today to actually talk, but the game was postponed, so no angry, bitter live-streaming of thoughts this afternoon!

DeF in rebuild mode.   Tough being 3rd fiddle in a town.  Will be a horrid spring with this team and the Pens sputtering down the stretch.

They need to go back to what made their 70s teams so good -- lines on the clubhouse table before every game so the players go out there AMP'D UP to get wins!

Where's Willie Stargell, Kent Tekulve and Mad Dog Madlock when you need em?

I always enjoyed watching Honus Wagner and Pie Traynor. ;-)

(for real, though, I did like Dick Groat and Elroy Face.)

My high school was black and gold (yellow really) and we used to have those flat top baseball hats that looked just like the Pirates. Loved the flat top hats.

When you are on your third stadium with a team, you know you've been around a while

WE'RE OFF TO A GOOD START TODAY!!!!

Nova sucking and the offense isn't doing much. Through 2 innings, I declare this season over!!!!

I think the Pirates are good enough to hold their own much of the season and get to 75 wins and avoid last (maybe)

Dickerson can play. Polanco, Marte, Harrison

I don’t think they’ll be terrible. Just not very good.

I'd say their problems will be consistent run production (other than Bell and Dickerson, I don't know if anyone has 20 HR in them) and the potential for an overworked bullpen because most of the starters are shaky beyond 6 innings.

Like you said, I can see them having hot streaks and staying in wild card contention for a good while, but they just have too many flaws to be a real contender. Too solidly in the "everything needs to go right and nothing can go wrong" camp to overcome too much adversity, I think.

The Cole trade already paying "dividends" with Michael Feliz entering and giving up 3 runs on 4 straight hits with no outs recorded.

Fortunately, Detroit's bullpen hasn't gotten any less shitty, apparently, so they were able to tie it up at 6.

Huh, they wound up winning. I was heading over to a friend's for some drinkin' and keeping up in my car and stopped following on my phone when Detroit went up 11-10 in the bottom of the 10th. Apparently, a replay erased that run and then they got a three-run dinger by Polanco about three innings later.

So, 1-0 BITE IT BITCHES!!!!!
