It’s hilarious seeing the talking heads shift from “how dare anyone with a pistol go up against an AR” to “lol good guy without a gun”. 0 consistency

He was also known by police and had his AR taken from them, and then given back to his dad. I imagine his dad will be going to jail as well

So ...

A man who the law already prohibited from owning a gun ... had a gun in his possession. (Way to be, gun laws.)

This gun was the "weapon of war" AR-15. (Oh noes!)

This AR-15 did not prevent an unarmed citizen within the close quarters of a Waffle House from disarming him and saving the rest of the patrons. (But I thought AR-15s were effective mass killing machines, regardless of the circumstances.)

Anything else I'm missing?

Did y'all hear about the van attack that killed 10 in Toronto? Or do we only care about scary looking gun deaths?

It's almost as if people dislike being attacked for the simple act of owning a thing.

Some loudmouth high school wimp with pipe-cleaner arms should organize a protest against AAA.

Per the governor, so trying to not jump the gun, kid had a shotgun and a .38 revolver. Also, not old enough to own again. But as we know happens every time, people crying out for laws all over the place. Literally no laws could have prevented this. Not sure if it is possible legally, but father should be punished for allowing his son free access.

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens

Meanwhile, there have been no mass shootings with Sub-Machine Guns since they were banned by the National Firearms Act of 1934 and as amended by Ronald Reagan in 1986.

Many of us have sincere and valid reasons for being skeptical of firearm regulations and the proponents of the same. but the notion that there are "no laws that could have prevented this" belies the evidence. Plenty of laws could make a difference but we choose not to.

The correct argument is that while mass shootings occur in the United States with tremendous frequency, it is nevertheless a greater country than the scores of countries where this does not happen because we have the freedom to defend our lives with firearms.

Laws besides forced confiscation. What law stops a 17 year old (already illegal) from doing this besides confiscation?  You could try passing a law that all guns need to be locked up but that is impossible to enforce as well.

“Tremendous frequency” is a bit much too.

I saw probably 15 tweets this mroning that said he did. Reading now, he definitely did not lol. The amount of false information that comes out right after an event like this is crazy.

I don’t blame you. The media is a bunch of fucking losers. Just like Trump called all immigrants animals and the protests on Israel’s borders were peaceful. What a week for the lowest occupation around.

I believe in licensing and registration. We should consider trying Hawaii's laws nationwide. That state has the least gun violence in the nation and is the best natural experiment as it is isolated unlike Illinois where you can waltz into Indiana easily. And look you can still get any gun you want as long as you submit to a regime of regulation e.g. having to get a permit to purchase or possess a firearm.

Check out Kona Guns:

In Texas - any yahoo and their fucked up family can have all the guns they want in their house. We can still preserve the essence of the right to bear arms without having it be this way in my humble opinion. This is not how other fundamental bill of rights freedoms are treated. As I've used as an example many other times - in every state in the union you have to go through all kinds of procedures to exercise your right to petition the government for redress of grievances or express yourself under the first amendment for compensation.

Why do I believe in licensing? Licensed CCW holders commit among the least crime in the nation. I think we could make progress by holding all firearm owners and purchasers to the same standards. Moreover does the dad in this case have liability insurance for his firearm? Did he engage in conduct in securing his firearm that a reasonable prudent firearm owner would? Did he take due care to ensure his firearm was secured? If not then maybe he should lose everything and go to prison. If you believe good guys with guns can deter gun crime than so can other penalties like civil and criminal liability which would make the free market respond and react accordingly.

And let's see - we had a school resource officer have to gun down an attempted school shooting a couple days ago, a guy go on a rampage at a trump property earlier today and now this. It is tremendous frequency by any reasonable standard of frequency especially in contrast to the entirety of industrialized western civilization. I saw a stat today - more U.S. school children have been killed by guns than members of the armed services this year? We're spending trillions of dollars to protect our nation and yet our own children are getting killed in our schools by our own citizens at a greater rate than the armed services personnel all over the fucking world???

The argument that "there's nothing you can do" is the same cynical argument the left makes that there's nothing you could do to stop illegal immigration. It is bullshit in both cases.

The tide is turning. 60% of Americans already supporting "assault weapon bans" after Parkland? It's only going to get worse because firearms rights advocates are so stubborn and obstinate in the face of these tragedies that non-hardcore conservative normies consider to be utter craziness. This generation Z that's supposedly so conservative is going to be more anti-gun than any before it.

Obama went for licensing and background chucks and was dragged over the coals for it and yet - the shootings keep happening and happening and then Trump is the one that floats confiscation. Point is endlessly saying "nothing can be down" is the greatest way to empower the gun grabbers.

1) there are 50 million students compared to 1.5m servicemen, terrible comparison. Percentages matter

2) licensing wouldn’t have stopped this?

3) what about the millions of guns already not registered?

4) I don’t believe 60% of Americans support “assault weapons bans” which aren’t a real thing, nor do I think generation z are any more anti gun. I have seen articles stating both. Even if you “ban” assault weapons, which have already been proven to not reduce crime”, how do you get rid of the millions on the market?

5) I can’t wait for congressman to run in gun control in normal states so we can see what happens. I’m honestly curious.

You can say there are thing you can do, but none of them actually do anything. Statistics show school shootings on the decline since the 90s. Gun violence as a whole are down, and the majority are from inner cities. The epidemic you try to make out to be doesn’t exist. Is it fucked up, sure, but few and far between has there been laws not on the books that would have stopped them. In actuality laws were broken, and it didn’t stop shit. Not to mention states and the fbi not complying with laws already on the books. You can go into any city and find a gun to buy if you want. Literally no law will stop that with the amount of guns on the street.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s fucked up, but I honestly don’t see what can be done. And the gun advocates won’t give an inch bc Dems have admitted they want to take a mile. At the end of the day, Americans are raising fucked up kids. In Europe that have mass killings but it’s mostly religion (Muslim) based. I don’t know why we are fucking up our youth so much here.
