Hell of High Water, no close.

I watched this the other night specifically because you and S&L seemed to think it was great.

Am I the only one who thought it was a whiny piece of shit? The bank took advantage of their mother by loaning her the minimum amount of money they could to take her farm. The brother saying being poor was a disease that was passed down from generation to generation. But it didn't seem like either brother had any interest in having a job. And now because they found gas on the mom's property the two sons were going to magically have a better life. What a bunch of cry baby excuse making bull shit. Lol

No, I’m with you. I didn’t think it was a pile. But I definitely didn’t think it was great.

I finished the Puppet Master collection I got from a friend. In short:

6 (Curse of the Puppet Master): 1.5/10 (utterly shitty, with the only fun part being how over-the-top rapey the asshole human victim became over the course of the film).

7 (Retro Puppet Master): 4/10 (there was the hilarity of watching Romanian actors doing French accents and one of the resurrected mummy villains was okay in my book just because he actually came off as remotely menacing).

8 (Puppet Master: The Legacy): negative-10/10 (clips from the first seven movies and about 10 minutes of new content...fuck off Full Moon)

9 (Puppet Master: Axis of Evil): 2/10 (yeah, let's take a killer puppet series and turn it into a whiny bitch-boy's soap opera with Nazis included).

Just got back from seeing Ready Player One. I'd give it a 7/10 mostly because I feel like it didn't give the book the justice it deserved. Still was a good movie and I'd probably go watch it again.

I’m about the same. 6.5. I didn’t really want to see it but went with the fiancés family because they all read the book. It was better than I expected but nothing great.

"Roxanne" (1987) - 7/10

Showed up on TV a few weeks ago.  Hadn't seen it since the late 1980's.  Still "holds up", lol.

I watched Black Panther this past weekend.  I'd give it a 6.2/10.  It was entertaining, but I felt it was definitely over hyped.  It wasn't any better than any of the "best" comic book movies in the last 15 years imo.  Unless the standards have dropped significantly, the social commentary around the movie definitely gave them a boost in their ratings.  Black Panther is currently a 97% on RT and it didn't come anywhere else to feeling like a movie in the mid 80s%, let alone 97%.

Edit:  They showed the preview for Avengers, and this has to be the end of it right?  If you all have ever seen the "too many cooks" video by adult swim, that is exactly what the latest Avengers preview felt like.

Probably because you're a racist.  I'm sure you didn't like the female version of Ghostbusters as well, so you're probably sexist too.

Yes, there is much more to BP's success than the quality of the movie. It's good, yes, but when you go on a Facebook post and read black people saying things "like you are just jealous of the success" or calling someone a racist because they critique the movie, there is something wrong.

I'll also throw in that I thought Michael Jordan's performance was terrible. He sucked in the movie IMO, and character was a s cookie cutter as it got.

I liked Black Panther. I thought it was a good comic book movie. Easily as good as Captain America, civil war. When I watch a comic book movie, I expect to set great special affects and shit blowing up. I don't expect comic book movies to solve world problems and I don't think Black Panther did that even though some people tried to make it out like they did. It definitely did not live up to the social hype.

Also, I can't fucking wait for Avengers. It may be over crowded but I'm hopeful they can deal with that. If not, oh well. Lol. I'm also really curious to see who they kill off and who they bring back and how far Thanos gets. They've been building that up for so long I can't wait to see if they can make it pay off.

This.

As a fan of comic book movies, I want to see big time villains, not ones who are just tough for regular men. I understand some people want more realistic characters, but I don't need that in these type of movies. In my eyes there is no reason that Avengers shouldn't beat BP at the box office.

John Wick: Chapter 2

It's really not that often when a sequel is every bit as good as the prequel, but this delivered.  I could have watched this without even seeing the first one and been totally entertained.  A little bit of the scale of this criminal underworld was too over-the-top, but other than that, I had no complaints.

Did any of you guys watch Ready Player One in 3D? I usually opt for 2D but I keep reading that 3D is a must.
