Wonder...8.5/10...just a real feel good movie, and thought Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson were outstanding

Agree with you.  I'm not a Julia Roberts fan and I was very impressed by her.  I read the book with my daughter.  One of those rare instances where the movie was as good as the book.

I  didn't watch any of the other nominees.  But I cannot imagine a better film was put out that year.

An original idea and a node to old hollywood. I only know two ppl who have seen it, one thought it was inedible, and other thought it was horrible. I bet I'd think it was great.

Shape of Water was good. 3 Billboards was better, but not shocked it won.

Saw Lady Bird the other night...9/10 for me. Can’t picture any of the other nominees being better than that or I Tonya.

The Ravenous on Netflix. 6/10

Decent zombie flick. It's staged outside of Quebec and in French, so watch with subtitles.

Anyone see Annihilation yet? It's playing at the theater I can walk to, I just haven't made time to go see it yet.

Vinyam --- I'm not sure what it was. It was on a horror collection DVD I have (along with the last 4 movies I mentioned here), but only the last 10 minutes could even be remotely classed as horror. It was about a Euro couple that moved to Thailand and lost their son in the tsunami of 2004. A few months later, they're doing charity stuff there to fill the void and see a video about human trafficking in Burma and the wife thinks she sees their son in the background, so they enlist the help of a trafficker type to find him. There are some hints of supernatural stuff (Vinyan apparently is a word for the ghosts of children who died violently or something like that), but most of the movie was the couple traveling to east Asian islands while being repeatedly conned by the traffickers, leading me to spend as much time absently surfing the web as I was paying attention.

4/10 with 3/4 of those points coming solely from atmosphere.

I mostly liked it. It kind of drags in parts, but I feel like it is worth a watch.

Debating on whether to watch Jumanji or Shape of Water today. I realize Shape of Water is the better film but I really don't know how I will like it outside of Michael Shannon.

Watched Titanic with my daughter recently.  The movie still holds up okay.  I did get fixated on this though:
