With him it’s not just words. Makes employees sign an NDA before working for them about the fact they will be exposed to sexual harassment, racial jokes, etc.

I think some of his bits are funny, but he’s just scum, so I try to avoid anything Barstool I can. His employees can’t unionize because he threatened to fire them all (thank God department of labor stepped in).

I also despise Michael Rappaport, so the fact I sided with him in his lawsuit against Barstool is wild.

I’m not sure why he is the way he is. I kinda get it starting out, since his target audience was 18-25 males. But once he made it, he should’ve fixed his image, except it wasn’t an act. And that’s the problem. He is a creative mind who doesn’t need to be a POS to anyone and everyone, but that’s the route he has taken.

I’d say he made the right decision professionally, buddy. He is very rich, and it’s all because of his professional decisions.

He’s an asshole, but no different than a shock jockey or a comedian. You’re going to get people who love him and people who hate him.  Meanwhile he takes both the love/hate all the way to the bank.

I’ve been following Barstool well before they got big, and before you elaborated on your post I already knew where you were going with it. It’s the same criticism most people have of Barstool and Portnoy, while also never really following their content.

The fact you cited the labor union “controversy” tells me you hardly actually have taken in their content and read one side of the story from publications that make a living being butt hurt. Just for the record the whole labor union thing was a bit. Anyone who follows Barstool or works there knew this and were laughing the whole time. The fact AOC and the DOL got involved made it even more hilarious. Barstool managed to get over a billion media impressions and gained more Twitter followers in one day out of it. This was during the dog days of summer too. The end result was he “settled” with the DOL by taking down his tweet. Like I  said, he takes the love/hate and laughs all the way to the bank.

He’s smart enough to have gotten that rich anyway. He could stop now and be worth over $100M. Instead, keeps it up and lost a huge contract with ESPN.

Lost a huge contract with ESPN, but got acquired by Penn Gaming. He’s a very rich man, with or without the espn contract.

Yea, he got like $400m from Penn gaming. ESPN was never going to work, bc no one wants censored takes. And unless you pulled a sleeper, since when would you care about unionization of workers?

WTF? A tiger at the Bronx Zoo just tested positive for this shit. Maybe Justin was right about Joe Exotic having it.

Animals can test positive if around a carrying human but can’t pass it on to a human.....or so I read

Glad that was a bit. I stopped following (directly, still get the retweeted stuff) anything they did in like 2013 or whatever when he ripped Erin Andrews (and now just makes sexual comments to her, for whatever reason) about the settlement she received. So, yeah, all I saw on that was the headline.

And I haven’t gone sleeper, don’t care about employees unionizing. But they should have the right.

I just can’t get behind attacking people’s kids, looks, etc.

Re: Barstool/Portnoy -- been a huge fan of PFT since whenever I discovered him, so with him at Barstool, I've spent some degree of time there. A percent is funny, a percent is annoying/assholeish and A LOT is boring-ass filler with a couple pics of hot chicks attached to give it some site value.

Portnoy is definitely an ass, but a lot of the sites/people that put the most energy into attacking him (such as the Daily Beast that was posted here or Deadspin before they self-terminated because they couldn't stand that thought that the people WHO OWNED THE SITE actually wanted some degree of editorial control) also are asses. Deadspin, in particular, loved to personally attack him and other writers and then would cry "harassment" when he struck back.

Either/or, PFT and Big Cat are cool, Portnoy's a dick and a lot of the blog-media folk going after him also are dicks, so it's mostly a wash to me.

Also: Pat Robertson showed how badly he wishes to be relevant to anyone other than mostly-senile god-squaders today by rambling about how CV is a result of young people and their oral sexing. It would be nice if, just once, we could get through something big like this without every fucking moron in the world with an audience trying to one-up each other with pure stupidity.

Big Cat is the man. He’s definitely my favorite of the barstool people.

How should I take a word for word “he is the worst kind of human” lol?

And even not comparing him to those people, is what you posted in that article THAT bad? I mean for someone who clearly says those things to get an uproar out of people?
You’re acting like he’s this terrible human being, when all I took from this is other people in sports media are jealous of his success lol

How is it continuing to spread and grow like that when most of the country has been under lockdown for 3 weeks?

I'm not seeing much reason to doubt that 60-70% of the population will get this over the next 12 months. It will become a daily battle to keep our healthcare system from being overwhelmed.

It’s not growing like that. It’s flattened. There was projected to have over 1000 new cases today and there was 304. That 10k would have been if we were seeing 1000 new cases a day right now.

There is absolutely zero data to back that up.

Right.  Ohio with wacky projections, again.  10k per day is an annual rate of about 35% of the population of Ohio.  That might be reality going forward, but if that's the rate under quarantine then it would seem like quarantine wasn't very effective, at all.

It does make you wonder if they aren't deliberately exaggerating projections in order to scare people into compliance.

I’ve been tracking it daily in excel since I’m so bored. We were outpacing the projections initially before the mandates. So the restrictions have worked. And those initial projections were from IHME.
