Glad to hear from you, like_that. Good luck over there.
posted by gutI'm actually kind of shocked how hard it still is to find toilet paper. LOL, another week and I'm going to be rationing one wipe and then jumping into the shower! Either that, or order a bidet.
This is the dumbest fucking thing of this pandemic. My opinion...
It's all about winning. Our culture (in the states at least) has become one that only cares about winning. In politics it's regardedly absurd. People no longer listen... they just want to be on the winning side. That's it. With the TP, people have no fucking brain. It's just about being the person who got the most. They don't even know why. They just want to be the winner. It's like getting a prize for being the world's smartest fucking moron. Good job!

Oh, but it gets better. Now you have these moron kids thinking it's cute to go into grocery stores and cough on the fresh fruit & vegetables and post it on social media. We live in a society of fucking morons.
I mean, we knew there would be those people.
I recall reading about the CDC actually doing a study on the Corrupted Blood incident. Allegedly, it actually functioned like a real outbreak, but in an MMORPG. From the sound of it, it allowed the CDC to understand that it was necessary to anticipate dick heads doing that and stuff like it in real outbreaks.
Anyone have any predictions for when sports will be back? I know Lalely said logistics plays a big role in it but just for a “shooting the shit” discussion, I think end of April would be realistic - in empty stadiums, anyways.
My dad doesn’t think there will be any football or baseball this year and that to me seems incredibly over the top.

I think it will be a gradual reintroduction with limited schedules in front of empty stadiums - like you say. I think the NBA season should be cancelled. Not because of coronavirus, but because it is already about 2-3 months too long. This is a good opportunity to trim it down to size. Baseball will have to have some sort of spring training all over again before it starts. I think football will happen at its regularly scheduled time.
I'm guessing a max 80 game MLB season. NFL might be fine.
Once they are given the “green light” so to speak, I think you can count on around 2 weeks to get it all sorted out. Arena availability, television contracts, how many games they want to play, individual team revised schedules, travel logistics, etc.
I would think they are all planning this with a few dates in mind. But you don’t want to waste to many resources without that firm good to go date. If it hits one of those dates and they have the head start, maybe a bit quicker. But could also see a 3 week scenario if this goes a bit longer than anticipated.
As for NBA, I really think they take this and run with it. End the season in August and resume Christmas Day. Had about 20 games left on schedule. Probably will have to knock that down if they want a full playoffs.

Don't cancel NBA. Just go right to the playoffs.
I also think we could see sports back quicker than regular life. When testing becomes readily available, they can keep these teams in a bubble of health so to speak, and play games without fans until the general public is cleared.
Bringing back sports will be the tell tale sign that its gonna be aright.
Take care like_that and thanks for the update.

It doesn’t really sound like much is changing. A lot more people working from home. You can still drive to your state park and walk around as I understand it? I think DeWine has handled this about as well as anyone could. The shutdowns have been gradual. He didn’t do everything overnight when it was too late. I’m betting they knew it was going to get to this sooner or later so they started rolling it out as soon as they could to minimize the panic and shock value.
The childcare thing is getting tough and frustrating. My wife and I both are in healthcare and work night shift so we’ve always alternated nights working with our kids but as shit gets busier we’ll probably need to pick up - we actually have a few nights of overlap coming up - and our parents (our primary babysitters) are trying to stay away and who knows how this daycare thing is going to impact us.

Can you hire any local kids to babysit?
