The "cutting taxes" part threw me off.

His new shtick is there's something magically delicious about deficits.  Which is really just a pseudo-intellectual way of saying the govt should print more money.

Why stop at something stupid like "deficits don't matter" when you can go all-in with "deficits are good"?

When has too much money and easy credit ever been a bad thing!!!!

What could possibly go wrong?

Wait..you guys think African Americans are becoming more “for” trump and credit his presidency for their success? Lol what?

Not sure where you're getting this in the thread - maybe I missed it.

To be fair, I have seen you say increase spending MANY times, but I am not sure I have EVER seen you say cutting taxes was a good thing.

I am willing to be wrong.

100% wrong. Go do some searching. I have said countless times in,the face of Ohiochatter deficit hawkery that the deficit needs to increase whether through spending or tax cuts depending on your political preference.

My favored policy has always been cutting the payroll/self-employment taxes.

I think he was being sarcastic.

Really I have been saying this for years I feel like! Countries with their own currency & persistent annual trade deficits must always run budget deficits.

LOL, no, that's actually how he thinks about economics.  How have you never noticed this?

Meanwhile when the world practiced Gut's preferred policy of budget cutting there was malaise everywhere. When Trump and the GOP listen to Boatshoes we make America Great again. I have been doing it wrong supporting Democrats because Democrats fall in love and Republicans fall in line. You can do anything as a Republican president and maintain raving support from "conservatives"

To be fair he has been calling for increased deficits (by spending increases) his whole time on the OC. So if he was being sarcastic it would have only been with the tax cutting part of his statement. He has been all in on Keynesian economics for ever.  I know Keynesian model includes lower taxes, I just have never specifically seen Boat call for lower taxes.

Like I said, I am willing to be wrong.

I will find some posts on the old OC.I don't think all deficits are created equal but any deficit is better than no deficit.

Frankly I don't even agree with the terminology. It never made sense to say the issuer and creator of $'s's could have a "deficit" of dollars IMHO.

It's like people continuing to argue with someone stuck on Einstein's ideas while the grownups in the room have moved on to a discussion of string theory.

Another high-level resignation from Trump's Administration barely 1.5 years in.

Obviously a lot about Trump being difficult to work with, and likely a moron, is true.

Haley resigning is actually a surprise. She is NY, so removed from the daily shit show.

Also, time wise, it's odd as it is before the midterms and forces Trump to name someone before the midterms as well.

Part of me thinks it is Haley making moves for 2020.

Or, just putting pieces together....Graham resigns his Senate seat for either AG or SECDEF and then Haley moves to take his spot in the Senate come January..(just speculating.)

She has to be doing something, very curious timing. I like Haley a lot. Easily the best woman candidate for Pres currently, imo.

Pretty surprising, TBH. She actually seemed to be one of the few cabinet members who actually had a decent relationship with the POTUS.

Actually no; she has had a good working relationship with Trump.  Hope she will return in the future.

Unemployment Rate Falls To 3.7 Percent, Lowest Rate Since 1969, Manufacturers Add 18,000 Jobs.

The New York Times (10/5, Casselman) reported that the Labor Department on Friday announced that 134,000 jobs were added last month, moving the unemployment rate down to 3.7 percent, “the lowest since 1969.” In addition, “average earnings rose 8 cents an hour and are up 2.8 percent over the past year.” The Times stated that “by nearly any measure, today’s labor market is the strongest since the dot-com boom of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Job growth has repeatedly defied economists’ predictions of a slowdown.” The Times adds “African-Americans, Latinos and members of other groups that often face discrimination are experiencing some of their lowest rates of joblessness on record.”

My guess is to start lining up for 2024. No one cares about you when you're part of the UN. Needs to keep building her support.

This makes sense.  A quick Senate stint would set-up Haley for a 2020 or 2024 Presidential run.

But I think AG is going to be Gowdy.  Or it should be.

I don't think she is dumb enough to go after Trump in 2020. You probably only get one shot, go for 2024.

Dems would be cryogenically freezing RGB every night, and between SCOTUS sessions.  That's assuming they aren't already doing this.
