The irony coming from the paper of "Democracy dies in darkness".

You have to be really delusional to even think to consider this question.  Be more authoritarian to save us from maybe, potentially the imaginary authoritarian?

I can't imagine what it's like to be so dumb that you believe you are resisting the fascist dictator orange man and then 5 years later you believe something like this is true.

Well, imagine.  Because it is the American way.

Lol the president who ran on unification…. Gtfo. Not that any of you are surprised but I’m all on board for being as distanced as possible. There is no common ground.

Buttigieg's plan actually wasn't bad - each party picks 5 Justices, who then select 5 more for a total of 15.

4 seats is so LOL blatantly partisan.  Repubs arguably stole 1 nomination, so 2 seats would restore "fairness", but of course that would still mean a 6-5 "conservative" majority.

That party has literally gone so far to abandon persuasion and bipartisanship that they seek to concentrate power in just a few decision makers (i.e. POTUS and a few SCOTUS judges).

Surprised me; I figured he would cave for sure.  Of course then the WH immediately trashed him.

If McCain goes against his party he is hailed as a heroic man of conviction; if Manchin does it he gets trashed and mobbed.  The hypocrisy on the left is immeasurable.

As compared to the right-wingers who are praising Manchin now, but who were bashing McCain as a RINO and impediment to their goals during those "heroic man of conviction" days?

I've been thinking about that.  Interesting point, but I'm not sure they are entirely comparable.  Manchin represents a lone holdout while I believe 3 others joined McCain.

Yes, you're supposed to represent your constituents first, but there's also the angle that you joined a party and received support from that party.  Just feels like if you're the only one breaking ranks, maybe you're not actually a Democrat.  Saying this is not aligned with liberal or Democrat best interests would carry more weight if Manchin's coalition was larger than one.

Of course reconciliation is a shitty way of legislating to begin with.  But I don't agree with the criticism of Manchin, or McCain and the others.  I understand coalitions/party are how things get done, but it's DEFINITELY un-democratic to villify people that dare not to be blindly partisan.

Not sure that this pandering continues to be a good idea for the Dems. Wouldn’t you want people mad in January rather than May, closer to November?

I don't even understand the point.  Who doesn't have a job that wants one, so why shouldn't people be able to pay their loans?

Does he even have the power to do this?  Seems like a really weak and desperate play to buy some temporary love from millenials.

Not desperate.  Calculated.  It's designed to get permanent love from the millennials.  The longer an individual does not have to pay the bill the more entrenched it gets in the budget.

Not to mention that it makes it even easier for colleges to keep jacking up tuition on worthless degrees.  If I were an art history professor, I’d buy AOC a fruitcake this Christmas with my tenured income.

So heard "Biden forgot what year it was", and I rolled my eyes because who hasn't forgotten it's no longer 20XX it's 20XX+1?

Except he thought it was 2020!!!  Can't say I've ever made that mistake.
