And that sort of "compromise party" would help clear out the trash who should be irrelevant like the bible-thumping conservative and the Bernie-esque liberal that thinks we should have an unlimited pool of money to give to all the poors.

And I've often said I don't think there's any evidence 3+ parties operate more effectively.

However, in the two party system it's possible to be purely partisan with 0 compromise....which enables people to get re-elected and retain power.  Once you have 3+ parties and a plurality sytem, NOW you're on the hook for gridlock because you can't just say "the majority party had the votes".

Hmmmm.....it's almost as if a socially liberal, fiscally conservative party could do really well.  Too bad the Libertarians can't get any money or media coverage!  Almost as if the two parties and their propaganda arms collude to keep them from gaining momentum.

It would also help if the Libertarian party chair leader wasn't a fucking idiot and they stopped putting out candidates like Gary Johnson.  I voted for Gary, but it was also hard to defend him in many instances.

This is true.

But I think they need to start by winning some seats in the House and Senate, and actually it probalby needs to start at the state legislature level.  You can't "create" a party by essentially trying to win POTUS as an independent.

I agree.  They need to start winning locally and I think they can.  They have been making some grassroots movements locally.  Eventually they will get a libertarian in the house and senate.

Funny you should spout off without knowledge.

Most socially conservative generation since WW2

That was the report I was referring to. I read that exact same thing and I think you're making quite the stretch when you say Generation Z is "Super Conservative". Moreover, just my humble opinion but I wouldn't bet on them being some kind of great conservative savior generation. They haven't even been through college yet and high school is much more librul generally today than I would say it was when I was in school.

Look at me - I'm considered something just short of a communist on this board and I was a flag-waving George Bush voting conservative when I left high school.

I'd be willing to bet they wind up more liberal than millennials and that millennials become slightly more conservative as they age but generally more librul than the previous generation.

So you're going to ignore a scientific study because you were easily brainwashed?  That's some Spock level reasoning right there.

I don't know superman if you can call this a scientific study. A UK piece surveying only 2000 kids? Just another poll and how accurate are they?

I looked into this, since I actually never heard about Gen Z being "conservative."  That was pretty shocking to me.  There have been a couple other studies that shows they lean right.  They are moderate liberal on social issues and moderate conservative on fiscal and security issues.  It's a small sample size, but FWIW the Gen Zs who voted in 2016 heavily leaned right.  I agree with boatshoes though, let's see what happens when these kids go to college and get indoctrinated by the progressive  bullshit their professors will spew to them.  They could lean D after that, but then also lean right again when they pay taxes on their legitimate career.

What sticks out to me is Gen Z is described as individualistic and they hate PC culture.  That leans more toward moderate right/libertarian than it does the "progressive" bullshit we see now.  I will take that any day of the week over the millennial collectivist attitude. If the GOP were smart (they aren't) they would go back to truly being fiscal conservatives (they aren't) and stop being petty on social issues.  They could steal back an entire generation after losing the millennials.

I still don't really get it though. There are less than 400 people killed with a rifle per year. It is nowhere near the epidemic everyone is making it out to be.

There are approximately 37,000 secondary schools in the nation; how many mass shootings at those schools -  5 or 6 ??

The ratio equates to 99.98% without incident, and if it was done on an annual basis it would be 99.9999999% safe.

I see no epidemic; I see liberal hysteria, media hype, and fake news.............because the facts simply do not exist to support their narrative.

I agree with your reasoning that there isn't an epidemic going on.  It is hysteria that is bound to happen after something horrible like this happens.  It will subside as it always does.  I'm sure parents of all political persuasions can get hysterical when thinking about their own child's school and safety.

Of course you politicize it because you seem to see every event in life through the political perspective lens.  So what exactly is the "liberal narrative"?

I think your statement on college attendance is the key. I would think that people who have attended college are more likely to register and actually vote than those that do not attend college. They are also more likely to follow a group think pattern in my opinion.

I wonder if Gen Z is more likely to not vote as long as they can't vote on-line?

Or if both parties stay the same, this is where the third party finally emerges.

I had the same issue. I voted for Gary, because he wasn't a complete slime ball and had executive experience. But man, that guy was a dipshit. I would have much preferred Austin Peterson, who is currently running (as a Republican) for US Senate in Missouri. I plan on donating to his campaign, Rand needs allies.

I actually think President Trump is more third party than an actual Republican.

Is it really that tough for an independent, that even now Rand Paul can't declare he's Libertarian and get re-elected?
