You are focusing way too much on the beer drinking comment. Look at yoru 2nd paragraph and focus on that. That amongst other reasons (i.e. he is not that good) is why throwing 2 first rd picks for him is a joke, and why he is not going to be able to perform to the level the delusional Raiders front office thinks he will.

Oh I absolutely agree that possibly 2 first round picks is a joke. I don't think he is going to come in and throw his hat into the MVP race by any means, but as soon as he gets even a small grasp of Oakland's playbook, he will be a better option than Boller and Pryor. If you were strictly commenting on his value versus what the Bengals got, then yeah I'd agree. I think he is as prepared physically and mentally as he can be.

Yeah and how'd training camp go for Brett Favre when he led the Jets to an 8-3 start before getting hurt or the following year when he again missed training camp and led the Vikings to the brink of a Super Bowl appearance?

It's different for a veteran QB than it is for a RB or DB, and that's even if he wasn't staying in shape.

Hard to imagine that someone who makes fun of someone else for "not knowing football" can turn around in the same post and talk about the lack of training camp when the most relevant example position wise was able to be successful without it.

Generally missing training camp is never going to help, but in the case of quarterbacks, it doesn't seem to hurt as much as it would for either a DB or RB.

Agree 100%. Nobody thinks the first in 2012 and second in 2013 is worth it, but he's far better than any other alternative and they actually have a shot at the playoffs this year, so it makes sense why they jumped at it, even as ridiculous as it might be.

I didnt retract it because I think it was stupid, I retracted it because Alex Smith has proved me wrong. Well really, Harbaugh has proven me wrong by putting Smith in situations that make it hard for him to fail. Im also not afraid to admit i'm wrong like 95% of the OC is.

I know you don't know anything about football, so i will explain this to you so it doesn't go over your head.

Both players held out from training camp. CJ is having a hard time getting it going this year. Revis last year had hamstring issues early in the year, and the Jets defense was not as strong early in the year because of it. This is all just from holding out from 4-5 weeks of training camp. Carson Palmer missed training camp and also the first 6 weeks of the NFL season. Does that make sense to you now? Probably not, I wouldn't expect a simple minded idiot to understand that. Heck, I will be shocked if you were capable of even reading this far.

I asked then 39 yr old Brett Favre how not going to training camp in 2009 worked out for him and he said he had one of the best the years of his career in 2009-10 and maybe the best for a QB in Minnesota history.

Wasnt there always reports of him working out at a local high school throwing passes and such?

Forget, did he get into any preseason games at all that year?

To expect that CP will be able to step in and contribute quickly is a bit of a stretch I think.

thats like comparing apples to oranges. favre is one of the best qbs to ever play the game, palmer is a scrub that quit on his team

Palmer threw 20 interceptions last year, he needs all the practice he can get. Oh, and why is he has coming back anyways, I though he had 80 mill in the bank lol

and Mike Brown said he wouldn't trade Palmer and reward him. Palmer said he had 80 million in the bank and didn't need to play just to make money but would play in another place for the love of the game, just not ever again in Cincy.

The Bengals may have 3 1st round picks next year but no way does cheapskate Brown pay 3 rookies 1st round money. He would be smart to trade down with 2 of them and get more picks.

It's only two and the NFL now has a salary schedule for rookies, I believe. It's not going to be the free for all financially that it has been in the past. At least that's the reasons for passing it in the first place.

I hope Oakland enjoyed the ass rape -- because that's what this deal is. They've thrown away this year's draft on Palmer and Pryor, and a decent part of next year's on Palmer.

That franchise isn't deep enough to be able to afford to do that -- at least not from what I saw last Sunday.

How many picks do the Raiders have next year? First rounder is gone, they burnt a third rounder on Pryor, and wasn't the main reason they went after Pryor so early that they already didn't have a 4th and/or 5th rounder (Seymour trade perhaps)?

Before anyone gets too many giggles from their draft board, I would like to remind everyone they lost 3 players in this past summer's free agency frenzy that are worthy of compensatory picks in the 2012 draft. The players: Nnamdi Asomugha, Robert Gallery, and Zach Miller. While none will likely be 1st rounders, they will receive a high pick for the Nnamdi loss and likely mid-rounders for the other 2. I know it's easy to bash 'em, but they do have some bullets left.

Carry on with the bash-a-palooza.

How did Favre's last year work out. Also lol at comparing a HOF QB to a serviceable QB (post injuries) at best. Favre also did get some training camp in, and he also didn't miss the first 6 weeks of the regular season. Nice try, but nice fail.

Sorry giving up a first rounder and a 2nd rounder at worst is a horrible trade for carson palmer, no matter how you spin it.
